About Me

I struggle writing bios, because it always feels like I'm trying to toot my own horn.

But let's see...I get really excited about paper airplanes, hot chocolate and public transport.

I grew up with three older sisters in Aachen, Germany (right next to the border of the Netherlands), but I came to the US in 2012 to get my fancy-pantsy Bachelor's degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Princeton University. After that, I moved to NYC to work here as a Software Developer - and boy do I love it.

I have lived with people my whole life; currently I live in a lovely intentional community in BedStuy, Brooklyn - so I sure know the importance of respecting other people's space and cleaning up after yourself. :) We're about 18 people sharing a home, including some kids (not mine), cats (I wish they were mine) and in general people from all walks of life. It's a weird bunch of people and I am so happy to have them all in my life.

I don't smoke, I don't drink, I don't eat meat - but I sure don't mind if you do any of those things. I do give hugs if wanted.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because a community of people supporting each other seems so much better than isolated hotel rooms. I don't want to be a tourist looking from the outside in - I want to meet people.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Attending the European Juggling Convention several times.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'll teach you how to juggle if you want to...:)
I'm not a great cook but I'm really good at making people feel good about their cooking!

What I Can Share with Hosts

General happiness.
I'm easy going without high expectation, I love a good laugh and a good conversation.
I read a fair amount because I spend a lot of time in public transport in NYC and that's what you do. If you have a book you have been itching to talk about but none of your friends have read, let me know - I'll do my very best to read it and we can have a little book club when we meet!
If you know how to swing dance, yes, please let's go do that.
