ABOUT ME

Hello. I'm Michael from Wellington, New Zealand. I studied Architecture for four years in Wellington and then worked for a construction management company for a further 1.5 years.

But now, I travel. I spent 6 weeks in the northern states of America and then flew to London. I have now been in Europe since mid-August 2012.

I suppose you could describe me as laid back, enthusiastic, sporty, outdoor oriented, humorous, courteous. But that could just be me over-estimating myself.

I look forward to getting into the couch-surfing community, both surfing and hosting and to meet people who can offer more insight into the countries that I'm visiting than I can get from passing through.

Love meeting new people and hearing the stories they have to tell.

PHILOSOPHY

To be as open-minded as possible to be able to take all opportunities possible. Always stay positive in all situations, I'm lucky enough to be travelling after all.

I have only just joined this organisation so I haven't really participated yet but as I am currently travelling in Europe there is no better time than now.

Interests

Outdoor activities; particularly hiking and mountain biking. Football/soccer - both playing and watching. I also enjoy films, books and most of all, music.

I study architecture so the built environment always interests me, especially the medieval town centres scattered throughout Europe.

Music, Movies, and Books

Films - more arty than blockbuster but I'm not too fussed. Tarantino and the Coen Brothers are two stand-out directors for me.

Music - older rock e.g. The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Pearl Jam, etc. With a bit of Jazz and Blues mixed in. I'm starting to get into some newer stuff too such as Fleet Foxes, Grizzly Bear, Mumford & Sons. I love it all really.
