About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Collect make share live - stories

ABOUT ME

Teaching English in Turkey, year 3. Open to ancient wisdom.
Love adventures.

Don't bother writing if you're a lecherous stranger who
1. wants "to get to know me"
2. seeks an "English teacher", or
3. wants to "get a drink".
I will not write back.

Don't write messages in Turkish either. I DON'T know it that well.

Türkçe konuşamıyorum. Still learning.

我是华裔, 在美国长大。 我是在福建省生的。我的汉语马马虎虎。别问。Also: I can't fake a Chinese accent worth my life.

Aspiring journalist. Hopefully.

------

My first, Zimbabwean political and economic refugees in South Africa: http://www.vimeo.com/5482647. Filmed spring 2009 in Johannesburg. Premiered at the Queens International Film Festival!

PHILOSOPHY

Wanderlust.
I'm maybe a Cylon.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Confession: more surfer than host-er. Please don't judge me too harshly. And for some reason I can't remember to log into this site and check things, so it's not unusual for me to be MIA.

Also: not many people come to Ankara, Turkey! If you're not a nutbar and like to hang with 20-somethings, holleerrrr.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Once you go CS, you don't go back.

Interests

中国。Africa. Journalism. Writing. Videography. Red wine (but never by myself, and if we only have 1 bottle, I will be shamelessly greedy). Good conversation. Culture&language.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Was a carrier for tuberculosis when I was 16;
lived with bedbugs for 3 months and was possibly colonized by them (the scars on my legs are finally fully healed);
almost been eaten by lions;
nearly had my head taken off by an overhanging mountain ledge because my crazy horse didn't feel like being considerate of its passenger;
met Morgan Zvangirai, Koigi Wa Wamwere, and Kerry Kennedy;
looked after baby sea turtles in Costa Rica (they are the most adorable reptile on the planet, officially);
snorkeled in untouched reefs in Mozambique;
argued a mock-asylum case in a legit Daly Center courtroom in Chicago before a legit judge;
filmed a documentary about Zimbabwean refugees;
saw the aftermath of South African xenophobia in 2008 and people's actions against it... .. .. ...
