One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've seen the amazing tenacity of the human spirit.

When I visited Nagapatinam, India to conduct and teach locals about Disaster programming for radio four years after the 2004 tsunami, people are still in the process of rebuilding their lives. They would talk about the tsunami like it just happened yesterday, how they lost their loved ones and everything they held dear in their life. But the amazing thing is that they tell me about these sad things while remaining hopeful about the future.

It may seem that they will forever be rebuilding their lives, but I know just like any other human being, they will survive.
