I like hiking, cross-country-skiing, canoeing and cycling, and try to get more into mountaineering.

When travelling, I am interested to learn about the natural features (including geology, biosphere, special ecosystems, etc.), about local culture and how it transforms into modern times, and about local politics.

I am not fluent any more in all those languages listed, but should still be able to communicate a decent amount, at least if you give me some time to adjust.

I used Couchsurfing quite intensively about a decade ago, hosting and surfing. Now I start again, because I plan some travels in the next years where I really want to be in contact with locals.

Long ago:
The petroglyphs in the kyrgyz mountains were one of the most impressing things I've ever seen.
The oil industry in ecuador and the connections to local people - and to be inside all that from one moment to the other - was one of the most exciting - and disturbing - things I've ever experienced.

More recently: cross-country skiing on the fjäll in Sweden, cycling from home to the sea, challenging myself into higher mountains.

I will be happy to cook for us, and of course will share all knowledge I have about politics and agriculture, plus will happily share travel advice for all places I've been to, and also for travelling Europe by train.
