About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I am taking a year off after medical school to follow my muse ;-)

ABOUT ME

I just graduated from medical school - I have found medicine and writing/filmmaking as my passions, and I am trying to pursue both, although the arts took a backseat while I did medical school. For now, I'm letting the arts guide me for a year before residency.

In terms of traveling and staying with others, I am very easygoing, I am respectful of people's space, and I don't smoke.

PHILOSOPHY

"Beauty is truth, truth beauty, that is all/Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know." That about sums it up.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Before med school, I went on around the world in 82 days, traveled to 10 new countries in search of fantastic adventures and fascinating people. I had 3 months before I started medical school, so I wanted to make the most of this most precious, carefree time! Right now, I'm beginning a much-needed break and will be exploring my passions in medicine and my world for the next 10 months.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have couchsurfed once in India 6 summers ago, and I absolutely loved it -- it really made my experience so much more meaningful and familiar. I recommend it to everyone I meet!

Interests

I love documentary films, getting at the truth of things, wandering all around the world, learning about the world around me, alternative medicine and its place in the conventional healthcare system, and the mind-body connection which is so crucial and yet a neglected area of medicine.

Music, Movies, and Books

I loved the movie Gandhi, The Pianist, Roots, and books like Pride & Prejudice, Kane & Abel, The Color Purple, songs that make you dance and move or cry....these are things that move me

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've done the Macchu Picchu trail, seen some other wonders of the world (Chichen Itza in Mexico and pyramids in Giza)..have also gone scuba diving in a number of places, and gone to the most remote regions like Bhutan and southern New Zealand and the Galapagos, also went marshmallow roasting in the lava fields of Hawaii -- amazing experiences!

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a documentary filmmaker, so I can teach a thing or two about that. I've been doing it for a few years now, so I've picked up some tricks along the way. I am also a doctor so I can tell you a thing or two about how the body works. And I've been around the world, so I can share some travel stories as well.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My knowledge of medicine, especially how the mind and body are linked. I can tell you insane travel stories. I can give you tips on where and how to travel, what to see, etc.
