Hello there, I am Mahavir. Born and raised in the northeast coast of Brazil, where is always summer and coconuts are abundant.

I spent the past 10 years living in Hamburg, Germany, where I worked in the gaming industry and met a lot of great people from various parts of this world. During this time I had the opportunity to visit a handful of countries in this continent while juggling travels back home to visit family and friends.

In 2022, after selling all my belongings and quitting my job, I went backpacking for one year. Starting in Peru and then into Brazil by boat through the Amazon river. That has been the most unique experience of my life to this day.

Outdoors and especially near the sea or the ocean is where I feel the most at home. Always open to try new activities, share surf sessions, camping, hiking, climbing trees, do music jams and lay down under the sky sharing stories and pointing out constellations.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Returning to CS since my last activity here in 2012. Back then I joined because I love meeting new people from all corners of this planet, sharing experiences and stories. That hasn't changed :) Around that time I hosted people at my place in two different occasions and participated in many CS events happening in my city.

Travelling on a budget and helping those who prefer such way of travelling is what CS is all about for me. Getting to spend time with fellow travellers and hear about their experiences is the best reward.

MUSIC - I listen to a varied amount of genres. If it moves me in any way, I will listen, doesn't matter the language, rhythm or era.

Some favourites are: Andreas Vollenweider, 311, Radiohead, Deftones, Steely Dan, Cocteau Twins, Lamb of God, Ravi Shankar, Screaming Trees, Tool, Primus, Morbid Angel, Code Orange, Sigur Rós, Men I Trust... and so on.

MOVIES - I like when films keep me on my seat several minutes after the credits have rolled with my head spiralling up in what I've just seen. Like The Tree of Life. I also enjoy uncommon/weird films like Kynodontas or Mies vailla menneisyyttä.

BOOKS - Tolkien, Kerouac, Vonnegut and so it goes.

Open heart and open mind will bring open doors and open arms.

I am always eager to put my hands in the kitchen to learn new recipes and cook together. Careful though, I could put curry in almost anything.

I can teach you how to play chords on a guitar or how to ride a wave. How to pick the best papayas or how to open a coconut. I can teach you a little bit of Portuguese and German or how to perform a Shirshasana.
