About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To find the world's most comfy couch, and meet people while doing it!

ABOUT ME

I enjoy a Michigan summer more than anything else in the world.

I'm an animal person, a plant person, and a people person.

I love good food, made with love and grown with love by the people I love.

I am a graduate of Western Michigan University and currently looking for a new place to live.

I majored in Art and Environmental Studies, and I like to joke that my job is saving the world (A pretty good goal, but an unrealistic job title.)

I am a huge proponent of local sustainable agriculture and the idea that the planet is worth more than the economy.

I am a photographer, a traveler, an artist, an activist, a poet, a thinker, a naturalist, and a comedian.

I am the creator and editor of Food Less Traveled, an online journal focusing on local food around the world. www.foodlesstraveled.net

PHILOSOPHY

Canning jars are more versatile than duck tape, but the most versatile thing is duck tape and a canning jar.

We think that by doing everything quickly, we can see more of the world...but in reality, it is only when we slow down that we can actually see the world for what it truly is.

I love that moment when I am getting to know someone and they say or do something that makes me think "that is so uniquely them". All of the little things that add up to one whole person are so wondrous.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Staying in a hotel is all about being a tourist.
Sleeping on a couch is all about being a traveler.
I choose to be a traveler.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

There is nothing like waking up in a strange city, on a strange couch to a strange cat cuddling with you and licking your face. <3

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once sat on top of a mountain in the middle of the Rockies while a thunderstorm raged all around me, but not on the peak I was on. Lightning was striking in the distance and a man played bag pipes, their song drifted in and out of the thunder.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you about art and photography, native Michigan plants a and mushrooms, and how to cook a very unique grilled cheese sandwich among other things.

I really love to cook, so I will make you food if you come visit or give me a place to stay.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States, Vatican City State
