About Me

Hi, i'm Maica. I'm eighteen and I'm at my last year of high school studying tourism. After that, I hope I'll study Oriental Languages at the university. I live with my mum, which is young and everyone loves (even more than me).
The things I love in my life are few. Literature and books at first. Give me a book or talk me about them and you make me happy.
I also love cinema, movies and TV shows, like, any kind. If British, even better (I may or may not be talking of Sherlock)
I love writing and traveling, then. Learning new stuff, new cultures, getting in touch with new and different people and feel one of them. Visiting museums as I love art and I could be staring at sculptures or painting forever. I love winter and cold weather (unfortunately is always hot where I live, and there's the sea).
I feel good when I'm alone most of the time, but I also love staying with people most of all if they're from different countries. They fascinate me, in some way.
I'm Italian, but I don't really feel it. I've always felt to belong to somewhere else; England. London, actually.
I've spent there a month and I felt home. I felt like I was tailor made for that city. Speaking English is the only way I have to feel closer to the place j call home (and watching Sherlock, obviously)
I can be both shy and very fun. It just depends, I don't know on what, but It depends. I'm very sarcastic and hilarious the most of the time, basically. I like eating, a lot. I love experiencing new food, like Mexican or Japanese or Chinese, which is my favorite. I fancy having long walks on the beach during winter, or around the town. Just to show people that I actually learn something at my school: monuments' history and art.
I'm the kind of person who everyone like to have around, sweet (too much) and helpful. I'm kind (too much) and like doing new and different adventures. I'm always ready for those!
I've always thought that I would have been a famous actress now if I were born in Hollywood, but I'm not, which makes me poor and unhappy (and not that pretty as well).
All I want in life is to succeed on my own, without getting help from other people. I wanna visit the world, and after that, trying to create a modest life who makes me feel comfortable with myself and the world.
Independent: my favorite word to be described from people. I like challenges. I like the sensation of being in difficulty and having no one to help me but me.
Anyway, this is me, kind of.
A Sherlock-addicted who likes having foreign friends more than real friends, wanna be one of those?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet new people, and with them, new cultures. As travelling is what I love the most, everything related is something that makes me happy. Being in touch with other people would mean learning something new, new languages, new cultures, new ways of thinking. And it would mean teaching to people how it is where i live. I'm here for: sharing. This is the key word. Sharing myself and what I know and let people let me become a part of their world.

Interests

TV shows. Movies. Writing. Books. Visiting new places. Meeting new people. Shopping (more looking than buying, actually.) Britain. British actors. British tea. British coffee. British singers. British bands. British people. British clothes. British streets. British stylist. British, British, british.

Music, Movies, and Books

I usually read any kind of book, even though Fantasy are my favorites. In the list of my favorite books you'll find "The shadow of the wind", written by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. Paradise Lost, by Milton. Some French writers like Camus or Sartre. English classical such as Dickens, Brönte, Wilde. I also love poetry, from Blake to Bodelaire, to Italians. I like Calvino, Bukowski, the amazing Baricco. I everyday try to read someone new. I also like Dan Brown, the lord of the rings, The Hobbit, The Harry Potter saga (obviously), The Mortal Instruments saga, and many many more.
I listen to all kind of music (but rap and house, don't like them), but I fancy more rock. Not hard rock. People like Arctic Monkeys or Muse or Linkin Park. I LOVE The smiths, and many other bands: Coldplay, Mumford & Sons, All time Low, Fall out boy, Blink182, Green Day, ACDC. I really like Little Mix then, and One Direction are not that bad. Lana Del Rey is the queen, and Kodaline and James Bay make me feel calm.
Movies? Hard. I love cinema, the academy and oscars, actors, everything related to that world. I don't have a favorite movie, not just one. But I'm really happy in looking at movies with people.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've spent one month in London with 14 other people in my school. We were 15 out of 800, and I was the first. London was my dream city since always and living and studying there has been something that has really changed me. I wasn't shy or scared at all, there. I usually am too shy to order a coffee, in Italy. But in London I was hyper active, I always wanted to talk to people and to be doing something. I could go there right now, live there right now, even if it would mean sleeping under a bridge. That city proves me, and this is good, cause it makes me a better person.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Everything that creates me as a person, and every little piece creating my world. All I know, everything I like, everything I would like to do or to experience. My tradition, the way I (and all Italians) live their life.
Good stuff, I promise.
