About Me

Hey there!
My name is Marina, but you can actually call me Maija,
I'm a young adventurer who loves to discover new places, experiences, cultures and people.

I am an easy-going, openminded person who's working as an aupair nowadays. Next year I'm trying to get into a Art History degree, so as you can imagine, I'm an art-lover!
I do love music and I enjoy a lot eating and cooking, so I do hope you also do :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As I have told you, I'm an aupair and a future student, and those two groups are not usually composed of wealthy people.. hahah

Interests

My biggest and most fascinating hobby is the art (I bet you expected that!). I love visiting museums, old buildings (and new interesting buildings too) and just staring at the works and appreciate them for a little bit.

But this is not my only passion, I also adore cooking and crafting. And obviously traveling!

As almost everybody, I know how to enjoy a good film or an interesting book, and I am listening to music almost always, so we could say that music plays a really important role in my life.

Music, Movies, and Books

I can listen to almost every kind of music, I try just to enjoy what I'm listening,
Anyhow, I have a weakness in indie music.
The Smiths is my favorite group since EVER, and I have to admit that now I'm getting a little bit addicted to The Magic Numbers, you should listen them!
But, as I have said, I like almost every kind of music.

We could say that I'm a little bit dramatic about my favorite movies. Probably my favorites are Moulin Rouge, 500 Days of Summer, The Howl's moving castle and Delicatessen.
I also like comedies and horror movies, thriller as well.
Woody Allen, Hayao Miyazaki and Jean-Pierre Jeunet are my favorite directors, and I'm always researching about what are they working at and so on, so I don't loose anything!

About books, now I'm hooked on the II one of Song of Ice and Fire (a.k.a. Game of Thrones, xd), but I like to read classics as The Little Prince, Talented Mr. Ripley or Romeo & Juliet (I'm serious, I can have read this book like maybe 5 or 6 times! hahah).
I also enjoy reading books of "the lost generation" (Bukowski, Hemingway and Fitzgerald above all), and I have to admit that I also like to read sometimes just the trendy teen novels like The Hunger Games or TFiOS (I have to recognize that they're pretty easy to read and the fact that you don't have to think to much is quite relaxing when you're stressed. I do absolutely recommend! )

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, actually my current situation is the most amazing thing I have done.
This spring I ended up my studies at the high school and get graduated and ready to get to the uni.
One day I saw that a family contacted me to be coming here, to Finland, to work as an aupair. I was living in Spain and getting ready to get into the uni, but this opportunity came to me this way, so I decided to left everything behind, take a sabbatic year and come to Finland.
Now I'm trying to learn this crazy language, discover their culture and getting ready for the cold winter that is coming!

Teach, Learn, Share

I kind of know how to play the guitar, but I don't think I'm able to teach you too much... But it's something that we can share !
I can teach you to cook hometown recipes and delicious desserts, and I can help you to improve your English or Spanish (and hopefully Finnish in the future)!

I will love to learn whatever you're able to teach me, it can be about almost everything, I'm always interested in discovering new things, so I'll probably say yes to new things :D

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love talking, I'm an open-minded person so we can discuss about almost everything.
I also can be cooking lots of delicious things as I said before.
And... I don't know, I think that now that you have read almost my whole profile, you can realize what can I share with you if you decide to host me.

I just have to say that I hope you liked my profile and you want to meet me, see you :)!
