ABOUT ME

Hi, my name is Maike and I'm a travel-addict! Seen a lot already and can't wait to see the rest of the world. I love music and festivals and dream of going to Coachella one day.. until then I explore the homegrown festival scene. I love the outdoors and getting to know other countries and people in a real, authentic way. I just spent a month in Fiji, working with kids and living with the locals. The trip had such a profound effect on my personality and how I see the world that I cannot wait to do something like it again. Next up is a year in New Zealand ith lots of hiking trips, roadtrips and farm work before I head back to uni for my masters.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Havent had the chance to host but have surfed a bit by now. I absolutely love it! For the local's tips, the way it makes travelling affordable for everyone and mostly because you may start your trip travelling alone but you wont stay lone for long!

Interessen

Travelling, music, dancing, nature, food! I also love to sing whenever and wherever and I care a lot about the environment and sustainability and volunteer as often as I can to make a difference.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

I literally listen to anything that has a nice tune. And I definitely don't believe in artist discrimination so if Justin Bieber happens to come out with a good song in the future I'll be more than happy to jam to it. (Edit: Looks like he has. And yes l listen to his music now)

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Spending a year in Canada was the best decision of my life. I travelled across the entire country by train, hiked mountains, off-roaded, canoed and kayaked, ziplined, jumped off bridges and hopped onto seaplanes. I saw more lakes than I can count and more snow than I thought could fall from the sky and I fell in love. Now I'm going to try and have a similar experience in NZ which I've heard is quite similar to BC.

Languages are my thing. I'm happy to teach you some German or practice my Spanish with you and would really enjoy a little native-language-lesson!
