About Me

hello! I'm Maisie! here's a smidgen about me

I'm from the paradise at the bottom of the world and, although my homeland is an incredible place, I'm restless to see everywhere else too. I've been to a good number of places now, but there's always more exploring to be done

back home, I'm working towards a Masters in Anthropology with a focus on traditional and indigenous healing practices. the rest of the time, I'm scouting out places to forage, coffee to drink, and thrift shops to scavenge in. I adore cooking and discovering local cuisine. I'm also a sucker for film photography, so you might catch me hunting around for a few decent frames. actually, who knows what you'll find me doing! I love an adventure or two. ^_^

it'd be a coin toss to choose between buzzy cities and the great outdoors, but mama earth is definitely pretty special to me. I'm equally happy to peruse the art galleries in town or hike through the natural wilderness

I love hearing peoples' stories, meeting and making new friends, and I'm always open to new experiences and perspectives, so fire away! teach me what you know and I'll try my best to do the same

and that's me really, just aiming to make the most of all that this ridiculously special world of ours has to offer

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm here for the whole beautiful community experience that comes from sharing moments with other people from all different backgrounds. locals, travellers, whoever else I cross paths with! I'm here for the joy of exchanging conversations, discovering places, experiencing cultures, and whatever else travel might bring me. diversity is such a wonder. couchsurfing also makes for pocket-friendly travel, which isn't a bad thing either

Music, Movies, and Books

I absolutely adore music! it's a daily essential. honestly, I couldn't capture my sprawling music taste in a few sentences. I especially love seeing live performances and especially getting the chance to have a bit of a groove

I tend to opt for documentaries or arthouse films. anything off-beat, slightly obscure or thought-provoking is without a doubt my kind of film

magazines are fab. I buy them whenever my budget agrees. Kinfolk and Huck hold a permanent place in my heart. non-fiction books and cookbooks rank pretty highly too!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'll teach what I can and share what I have. hmm, I can definitely help with English, and basic French or Spanish at a push! otherwise I'm more than keen to jive some decent conversations, especially anything related to philosophy, the arts, or politics. if you've got an opinion, I'm open and keen to hear it. always keen to share food too (of course)!
