About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Finish reading all the books currently stacked around the house. Meet like-minded people who want a couch to sleep on, and to swap ideas, philosophies etc..

ABOUT ME

I have three grown sons, three grand-daughters, and one grandson. I taught art for years in Inner London schools, but after a ten year sojourn in South West Cork in Ireland, I am now living in Devon and am a full-time artist and printmaker.

PHILOSOPHY

I was brought up in a socialist family and was taught to respect the rights of others and to contribute to society. I tried to pass those values and the ability to be creative to my own children and to others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host as many Couch Surfers as I am able, and enjoy the wonderful, varied, experiences that people have to offer in return.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was back in Ireland a few summers ago, staying with a friend, and two couch surfers turned up and we had an amazing evening of dancing, chatting and getting to know rather more of the 'Five Swallows' than was good for us. I decided that when I got back I would sign on and see if any more craic was to be had.

Interests

I love my garden and cooking. I read voraciously and knit strange garments for my friends and family. I write, and am currently pursuing a newish career as an artist/printmaker.

Music, Movies, and Books

Dickens is my favourite author, Bach my favourite composer and Kurasawa my favourite director although it's impossible to name everything else that interests me...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was sailing round Eigg in a ketch and was below deck when a killer whale got so close that it completely blocked the light from the portholes.

Teach, Learn, Share

I think that when I meet people the exchanges will be obvious. I have a passion for the things that I do and perhaps that passion can be passed on.

What I Can Share with Hosts

From one hostie to another, I can say how much fun it can be to meet new people and make new friends.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Malta, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, United States
