I think that it is a unique way of knowing people that lives in the country you are visiting, they give you a different perspective, you know their culture from close, and I could totally prove this last year couchsurfing around Australia and decided thats the way I want to travel.

-Fishing piranahas in the Amazon for dinner, just with a stick, a piece of string and some chicken skin
-Watching lava flow and crack so close that I could touch it in the Big Island of Hawaii
