Overview
About Me
Hi! I'm Maja and I'm all about learning languages, traveling and living in different places (as well as dancing, drawing and playing bass every now and then)🌞
I'm originally from Germany but moved to the Netherlands in 2021, mainly to study but also for love. :P
I'm an absolute language nerd, and I love learning languages.
So much in fact, that I started studying linguistics last year, but studying stressed me out more than I anticipated so I am currently taking a gap-year from my studies.
But I want to use my year off to expand my horizon, meet new people, get out there in the world, see new places and get to learn about even more cool languages! :)
I've haven't actually travelled very much in my life, mainly just to go on holiday to neighbouring countries with my parents. But I did have the opportunity to do an exchange year in 2018 at a South Korean high school while living in a Korean host family, which has fuelled and intense love for living in foreign countries in me! Which is also part of why I want to travel here on CS like this. :)
I'd call my eating habits flexible, but I am trying to cut down on my meat and milk consumption.🐄 I can cook, I like cooking, I love good food, but I am also lazy so I have a repertoire of very nice, healthy, quick and cheap meals that I'd be more than happy to share!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because to me, the most fun thing about travelling is meeting the people that actually live in the place I'm visiting!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I designed a logo for a nettle beer bottle! I was also involved in the process of making the beer, we picked the nettles ourselves and brewed about 100 bottles at a personally acquainted brewer. It tasted questionable but it was a very fun process!
I stood on a glass floor on the 5th highest building in the world, Lotte Tower in Korea. That was really cool! And scary. I had to sit down because my legs were shaking.
I met the former president of the UN, had a little chat with him (or at least, our group did) and we took a photo. :)
I accidentally once had a short appearance on a dutch reality TV show, and that happened on my very first day of moving to the Netherlands.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can get passionate about pretty much everything, biology, IT, art history, philosophy dancing, cooking, musical skills, whatever it is you know I'd love to learn :)
On the other hand, I can certainly tell you a lot about linguistics and languages (beware, I can talk about this forever), teach you some hip-hop/waacking dance moves, or draw with you!
There is always something to learn from each other, no matter what it is!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm a great listener but I also have a lot of stories to tell! I love conversations and discussions. And I'm always happy to help in the household, doing laundry or doing the dishes. :)
