About Me

Hi there,

I'm currently living in Leuven, Belgium.

I was born in Spain, grew up in Mexico, and grew older in Belgium.
I lived in Brussels for three years and I love the city. It's just big enough to have everything you could possible need, but it's still small enough to feel cosy and welcoming. If you want any advice on this city, please let me know! I have also lived in Toronto, Canada.

In Belgium until 2016

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Being in Couchsurfing reminds me some of the best aspects of being human: solidarity, trust, adventure and meeting with strangers (perhaps future friends). I have been travelling for a while, with friends or persons on the road. It is an enriching experience.

I would love to host, but unfortunately, I can’t at the moment. I will be more than happy to meet in downtown Brussels or Leuven. And to give any advice/tips/recommendations about Belgium and Mexico (Morelia, and Oaxaca the city).

My couch experience so far has been amazing. Great way to meet people and share stories.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC:

I love music and I have a quite eclectic taste. I grew up with the Beatles and Queen. In my teens, I started listening to some punk music (Bikini Kill). Bjork, Tori Amos, Arcade Fire, MGMT, Black Keys, Keane; Camera Obscura, Nouvelle Vague for dreamy Sundays; Manu Chao, Indochine and Louis Attaque; I can’t get enough of Depeche Mode, The Smiths and the Cure. Gustavo Cerati, Zoe, Poter.

… Anything new, I love. So if you have any musical recommendations, please share ;D!

If you want to discover some Mexican music, try Cafétacvba and Maldita Vecindad. Some alternative rock are Porter and Zoé. Lila Downs is a must! Especially if you’re travelling to Oaxaca (here is why: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtFlBWt864c).

BOOKS:

Arundathi Roy - God of Small Things
Anaïs Nin - Cities of the Interieur
Gabriel García Márquez – El Amor en los Tiempos del Cólera y Cien Años de Soledad
Alessandro Baricco – City
Jack Kerouac – On The Road
Michael Ende – The Neverending Story
Italo Calvino – El Barón Rampante

MOVIES:

Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain
StarWars
Cinema Paradiso
Dancing in the Dark
Todo sobre mi madre (y otras de Almodóvar)
