We hope to experience the places we visit, chill with the locals, eat the "must-have" dishes and be as adventurous as our budgets will allow.

ABOUT ME

We are 3 teachers that are excited about our summer break in Eastern Europe. A quick nap in Rome, then Turkey, Greece and beyond. We're fun, we love to laugh and wouldn't be satisfied without chillin' with the locals. We're laid back and up for any type of party.

We're also not a fan of the ordinary... hence Anthony's attempt at making us "stand out"... Enjoy this "all about us"...

The original MAK (A 3 piece female combo) is now being merged with the newly formed JAK (a two piece female combo with a Studly Italian Stallion on the side). This may be a tad confusing, but we don't want to lose our couch surfing friends and references so we're simply combining forces.

Karyn aka Medusa (for the 5 European weeks) is a bundle of enlightenment and talented musician in this trifecta. This school teacher thrives on awkward situations and has an infectious giggle. Once a former preacher (or creature… preacher creature if you will), Karyn discovered alcohol in Thailand and did a complete 180 or something. Although very responsible, Karyn is known for her spontaneity and can be convinced to partake in any situation. (Even if it means stealing a Tuk Tuk in Thailand). Don’t let these stories alarm you because Karyn is all in all great fun in social situations.

Ambition for this Eurotrip: To end up in a discoteque where no one speaks English.

Jaymi aka The Odyssey (for the 5 European weeks) is a rainbow skittle-like modern day hippie and is the cautious traveller of this trifecta. This school teacher greatly succeeded in the kindergarten classroom but wanted to teach older kids, so now she teaches older kids kindergarten. Once (and maybe still is) a professional drunken cartwheeler in Asia (alter-ego-ly named “Svetlana”), now strives on the promotion of single-life-apartment-living-nakedness. Jaymi is known for her organization (and puurrr) and precision, bringing a sense of life long inquiry to the JAK team. Don’t let these stories alarm you because Jay-lana is all in all willing to do whatever. Booooooooof!

Ambition for this Eurotrip: To visit a castle spa with a bear in the moat.

Anthony aka Oedipus (for the 5 European weeks) is busting at the seams with ENERGY, inappropriate comments and lovable dependence. This kindergarten school teacher creates literal jungles in the classroom and has enough cracked up stories of 5 year olds to keep you entertained, including a detailed depiction of the crucifixion through the eyes of a child. He somehow manages to moonlight as a sketchy rockstar in the evenings, only at the creepiest bars around, while still making it to bed by a strict 8:30 pm. Anthony can lead a crippled man without legs on skateboard through the party streets of Bangkok whilst wearing nothing but a washing machine. Don’t let these stories alarm you because this Italian stallion is the detail needed at every party. Enjoy.

Ambition for this Eurotrip: To have a bonfire on a beach while eating a kebab with mayo.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We have couch surfed all over Australia and are now returning the love by opening our home here in Canada. We have had a few surfers stay with us, all pleasant experiences. We hope to continue surfing through Turkey and beyond.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We'd like to think of ourselves as experienced surfers. We stayed with many new friends in Australia and have now opened our hide-a-bed for future friends.

We differ in these areas, but all enjoy books about the places we have visited and stories from the people who live there. We are all quite eclectic with our tastes in music and movies, although some enjoy the sap more than others.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We all partook in Thai New Years (Songkran) which is the biggest water festival out there. It was AMAZING and something we wished had never ended.
