About Me

Young journalist, democrat. Trying to be somewhat sociable and I think I'm rather successful. Really want to know people from other countries and exchange my knowledge about Ukraine with them.

Well, I'm coming from small town on the seaside of Azov sea, so I'm more like a small town myself: kinda quiet, kinda slow, kinda relaxed but a good friend and a stable one. After all, small towns are staying the same despite everything . They change a little bit but generally, in the deepest depth of their hearts, they're the same place as 20 years ago.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It is a great possibility to travel all over the world, make new friends and be a world citizen without a lot of money. It was never meant to sound cynic, but it's kinda true.

It's only one fourth of thruth though. I strongly believe that you can improve your country only if you've seen the life of others. Only if you've mastered the art of communicating with people from different countries, you can go back and think how you can improve the life of your fellow citizens. Sonds like a manifesto, but it's not a complicated one at least.

Also food. Every country has it's own national meal. And they're all so tasty. Gotta taste 'em all!

Music, Movies, and Books

Pink Floyd, Nina Simone, b.b.king, blade runner, Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors, My Winnipeg, Sans Soleil.

Everything that comes a little bit more experimental than Marvel and a little less experimental than a white screen for three hours without any narration. So yeah, I'm a film buff.

As for music, I'm not near as knowledgable as I could be, so anything goes, I guess. Metal music, jazz hop, 80s disco, eurobeat, soviet pop, you name it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, once I've participated in Ukrainian-Russian version of a TV Show "The britain's smartest kid" and I've won. It was a one-time success, but it was huge for me, my family and my town. I've even had a billboard with a 3-meter photo of mine under the tagline 'berdyansk is proud of them' or something like that.

It's not about travelling, but it was very huge and very spectacular.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I consider myself to be a little bit smart and acquainted with all kinds of Ukrainian stuff (since I'm a journalist) so I could tell some little stories from modern political life of my country or cultural ones. Also I know the general outline of Ukrainian history so we could discuss past of our countries and compare it.

And I'm an easy-going guy. No one feels pressure around me, so if you want to be relaxed, I can provide that feeling for you =)
