About Me
I'm a graduate student pursuing my PhD in oceanography! I study fish and people and the many of the ways they are interconnected. I read a lot, bartend, scuba dive, play rugby, and listen to lots of live music. I also shoot medium format photography on a Rolleiflex 3.5.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to a lot of folk (e.g. Bob Dylan), rock (e.g. Tom Petty), and jazz (e.g. John Coltrane), but there's a lot else mixed in there.
I love older movies like The Sting (1973) and French noir, as well as Wes Anderson films and some sci-fi stuff like Interstellar, but Surf's Up is the greatest movie of all time.
I've recently enjoyed reading contemporary authors from the 20th century like Italo Calvino, Albert Camus, Jean-Paul Satre, and Ernest Hemingway. I like fantasy novels, such as The Name of the Wind and The Way of Kings. I also love books about nature and humanity's relationship with it, such as Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've worked on fishing boats in Alaska!
Teach, Learn, Share
I am learning how to sail and play the guitar.
