Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have a large house with a guest bedroom, 2 futons, and a foldout couch. I have been amazed by the genorosity and kindness of the many amazing people I have met while traveling, but have not had the opportunity to offer that hospitality to travelers here. I just don't run into backpackers in my day-to-day life.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We met a man on the plane to Honduras that was returning to visit his family. He invited us to his tiny town well off the beaten track - no address - he said just ask for Adelid when you arrive. We were escorted to his home by a large group of children - we were quite the curiosity. Adelid and a group of his friends took us hiking in search of an old Incan cave. We never found the cave, but the hike was beautiful. The full story involves a replacement truck battery being brought by horse when the truck stalled while fording a river, a drive down a mountain at night with flashlights instead of headlights...It's too long to type, you'll have to ask me about it sometime.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love anything that makes me shake my ass....Phish, YMSB, Government Mule, WSP, Ween, Spearhead, Leftover Salmon, Phil Lesh, Sam Bush, Keller, String Cheese, Robert Walter's, Herbie Hancock, Hot Buttered Rum String Band, Flowmotion...
Some of my favorite reads - The Prophet - Kahlil Gibran, The Little Prince, Tale of a Shaman's Apprentice, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Series, A Holographic Universe, Jane Eyre, A People's History of the United States, anything by Tom Robbins, any thing by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I climbed the mountain across from Macchu Pichu - a straight up affair involving steep paths and a series of ladders bolted to cliff sides. I was rewarded with a gorgeous view of Macchu Pichu from an angle most tourists miss.
Teach, Learn, Share
I've been remodeling my 1892 home for some time - so I know a fair amount about tiling, staining, painting. Sadly, I am horrible at gardening (someone help me please).
I know a lot about genetics and personalized medicine.
I can make basic web sites.
I am an awesome cook. And I love yoga.
