Hello friends☀️
I studied at a university in London for about a year as an exchange student from Japan, and I’ve just finished my program. Now I’m traveling through a few countries before heading back to Japan.
My major in Japan is Cultural Studies, and I’m especially curious about South Asian and Indian food culture — particularly its historical relationship with the British Empire. While in London, I studied Food Studies and South Asian Studies to deepen my understanding of these topics.I’m really interested in colonial history and try to approach it with a critical perspective.

When I have a free time, I usually walk around the city and explore nice cafes to try good coffee and also because I don't want to stay at home all the day! I love eating and trying new food too - London was such a good place to meet diverse cuisine from around the world. I like sharing meals together. Food is not only essential for human to live but also powerful tool to connect people, I believe.

I'm an open-minded, honest, and easygoing person. I'm not very talkative — I prefer listening to your stories and simply enjoying the moment. That said, I do tend to talk a lot when it comes to food, haha!
When I stay with a Couchsurfing host, I always try to be respectful and polite. I don’t expect you to show me around or provide food or drinks unless you kindly offer. But still, I'd love to know your some local recommendation :)
If there’s anything you’d prefer me not to do at home, or anything I should be careful about, please do let me know in advance. Don’t hesitate to mention it — good communication and mutual understanding are important. Everyone has different values, after all.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like to listening to any kinds of music but especially I prefer chill music. I listen to Cold Play, Ed Sheeran, Arctic Monkeys, Jason Mraz, and some Japanese songs.
I don't really watch movies, but when I was young I watched a lot of ghibli works on TV. I've recently watched short movie (any topics)
I try to read as many books as possible. I like to read any books relating to food such as recipe books, history, and academic ones.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

🇮🇳I have done solo trip to India in 2022! I traveled Chennai, Madurai, and Bangalore which are southern India. I walked and walked around the town and enjoyed talking with local people, and of couese tried many foods. I felt anxious before traveling, but people were kind to me and very friendly. It was exciting and interesting county.

I also visited Mumbai, Goa and Kochi in the western India in 2023. Next time I go to India, I would choose Kolkata.
