About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Deja que el mundo te cambie y podrás cambiar al mundo. - Ernesto "Che" Guevara
ABOUT ME
I'm originally from a one-square mile town on the New Jersey shore about an hour outside New York City. For the past two years I have been living in the Boston, MA area and studying at university. This semester I'm a student at the Universidad de Córdoba, and in June I will be moving to Nicaragua again for the summer to be a volunteer teacher in a few rural public schools.
I love the ocean, traveling, experiencing different cultures, "attempting" to speak Spanish and learning from the world around me.
PHILOSOPHY
"Deja que el mundo te cambie y podrás cambiar al mundo" - Ernesto "Che" Guevara
"Sólo el misterio nos hace vivir, sólo el misterio" - Federico García Lorca

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Sadly, I cannot offer a couch in Córdoba because I am currently studying abroad for the semester here. I would love to participate by surfing or meeting up for coffee or drinks.
After doing a bit of traveling myself, I realized that my favorite memories are ones where I was able to connect to people and experiences more than simply the place itself. I love the objective of CS, and I cannot wait to be able offer a couch when I am settled in either Boston, Madrid, or Nicaragua in the upcoming year.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Recently, I was able to experience CouchSurfing in Barcelona while traveling with a friend. I was able to stay two groups of hosts, and it was absolutely incredible.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: Edward Scissorhands, American Beauty, Amores Perros, Pulp Fiction, Kamchatka, When Harry Met Sally, etc. I absolutely love movies and chatting about them.
Music: I grew up listening to música latina, old school rap and hip hop, and R&B thanks to my wonderful Puerto Rican mother. I listen to everything from reggaeton to indie bands. Right now, I am in love with the fusion of electronic, new wave music with rap and urban music like Kid Cudi, MGMT, Chiddy Bang.
Books: All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque, The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand, The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas, Siddhartha by Herman Hesse. Currently Reading: La Voz Dormida by Dulce Chacón and Como Agua para Chocolate by Laura Esquivel
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I was in Nicaragua, I was on a sailboat in this laguna that was actually a crater (Laguna de Apoyo). Well, there were too many people on the boat, so it tipped ... and there went most of the passengers into the water. Instead of panicking, I decided to swing like Tarzan from the metal bar I was holding before diving into the water. My friends still make fun of me to this day for that. In short, I can go with the flow, and I make the most of every situation.
Other amazing things: watching the sun rise over volcanoes, riding the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world, being a best friend, and holding my baby siblings for the first time.
Teach, Learn, Share
I firmly believe that traveling does not simply involve seeing sites but living and understanding the atmosphere of the place. I think the best way to do that is to connect with people living locally and gain that insight. When living in Nicaragua, I stayed with locals the whole time, and now a piece of my experience and life remains there, and I want to bring that open-mindedness everywhere I go.
