There is not so much about me at this point of my life, I just feel I want to learn from each person I meet and that makes more of me than anything else. I am currently living in Australia but I am Latino, Colombian, born in a small town called Socorro and studied in Bogota, the capital. I lead a life trying to get more out of it, good friends as family, and family as a good friend, working to live. I know that it was a brief explanation about me, but I don't tent to to write a lot about myself.

I am also writing today on behalf of my friend Lorena who is the girl up in photo. She is from Spain, originally from Canary Islands and she is coming with me in my next trip, Japan. We met each other 8 months ago, in Melbourne. It was when we were studying General english, and we got along since then. Now I have to say good bye to her in two days but with the hope that we are going to catch up soon in Japan. The dream has been coming true since we agreed to go, like one month ago or so, and now having the tickets already paid, we are getting closer and closer to do so.

Well, both of us like artistic things, such as taking photos, painting, drawing and that's probably because we studied something related to arts, for instance, she studied Fine Arts, and I, Industrial Design. I enjoy working in branding so I am always keen to help out people when they need a hand. For example designing Logos, and some works that a graphic design does. Lorena is fairly shy and a bit of a introverted person like me, when it comes to meeting people, but what she does is amazing, her graduation work is moving and convincing, and that's what I like the most of her, her work is just like her personality.

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

We both think that what Couchsurfing could give us is the possibility to soak up the real Japan. The why is that meeting native people is the only way to learn about the culture of a country and its traditions. We've been interested in the japanese culture since we were young and now we hope that this way of travelling will live up what we expect from Japan. We've met many japanese people while studying in Australia and that only makes us get more interested in going to Japan.

兴趣

As we wrote above, we are a bit of a budding artists, sometimes drawing, painting, other taking photos. What we love the most when we are together is watching movies, trying new food, listening to music and cooking (Because Lorena is vegetarian we mostly cook veggie food) . We like spending long hours riding our bicycles without any specific destination, just to enjoy what it comes along.

We think that life without music would not be the same. Music gives relief and serenity, it cheers us up when we are down or when we feel that we need to unwind it is always there. The two of us like chilled and relaxed music, and when were are with friends we try to make the ambience much nicer with some of our music. Our likes start from indie pop to latin music, always changing genres to make the atmosphere more diverse.

Since we met up for the first time we found out that we had a lot movies in common, which is amazing, due to the fact that we love watching films. I guess our movie is The Dreamers, which is fairly new, and is pretty much the one that we always recommend. Although we like any kind of movies, we would rather drama, but it also depends on the mood. We are looking forward to watching what you are going to suggest us.

Lorena loves reading, She could spend her whole life doing it, she is a bit of a book worm. I am not a really good reader but I enjoy doing it, even though a read slowly, I guess is because I like to take my time doing things. Surprisingly, in one of our first meetings, we found that we both like Murakami Haruki, that was a sign.

We both were studying English in Australia for nearly one year, which mean we have knowledge about the language, and knowing that English is very convenient to know, we are more than happy to teach what we know. We also are Spanish speakers, so whoever wants to know about our language or practice as well are welcome, we would love to teach you.

More over we both like painting, drawing and making craft things. Lorena is pretty good at taking photos so if you need a nice pic for something, don't hesitate to ask. I have some knowledge about graphic design. It would be helpful if you need any kind of help, for example, designing a logotype, business cards, packaging, letters, cards, any print out you need.

We also want to learn from you, about your culture and life. We believe that staying with a native person would give us more about your country than anything else. Now that we are going to Japan we want to learn as much as we can about your Language, food, places, and traditions. This is what we love the most.

When it come to sharing, there's not only one thing to say, because that is the purpose of our life, sharing is our view of what we think life is made for. We would love to share with you our experience and anecdotes, our dreams, and either way yours. Let's grab a cup of tea or coffee and go somewhere.
