Manoranjan is a Assistant Professor at Symbiosis International University, Pune, India.

As a geographer and climate change researcher, his interests are in the fields of climate change, climate vulnerability and adaptations, natural resource governance, regional planning, and the interlinking impact of climatic change on local livelihoods. Manoranjan has been awarded several reputed academic and institutional fellowships during his educational and research journey, these included JRF-SRF by UGC (2017-21), India Smart Cities Fellowship (ISCF-2022) by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Govt. of India, YECAP fellowship, and the Merit Scholarship by the Government of West Bengal (2013–15).

He was previously engaged with the Department of Geography, University of Burdwan as a researcher (2016). He has successfully completed more than ten summer schools and short courses from several reputed universities and institutions, such as CPR, New Delhi, TISS Mumbai, IGIDR, University of Edinburgh, Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kharagpur, NIT Warangal, TERI University, and Global Initiative of Academic Networks (GIAN). He has published ten articles in reputed Scopus-indexed journals and contributed five book chapters.

He holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in ‘Climate and Development’ by the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. He is an alumnus of University of Burdwan and Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.
