About Me

It was a huge black jeep, fueling its thirsty fuel tank with gasoline. This jeep was my only hope to get out of here. Middle of nowhere, somewhere on the English - Welsh border, I was desperate to get back to London by dusk. I had to be at the chemistry lab tomorrow. I headed towards the huge bold man in a leather jacket, standing besides the jeep. 'Where are you going man?' I asked. 'London' was all he replied. 'You have to take me man, please!'. 'Get in young man, let's go!'

This man was in his 50s, but seemed like he had enough energy to fuel a power plant. He had lots of stories to tell. But more than the content of his stories, it was the enthusiasm, the energy in his eyes that he would tell the stories with. The real take away for me was not 'this guy did this, this guy did that, he's cool', but 'Man, I was young, and I lived life'.

That's how I try to live.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I haven't done couchsurfing until last week, but it's been always on my mind.

I think it's a way of travelling, when you surf. And a sort of lifestyle, when you host. It brings people together which would have never met otherwise. It destroys barriers between the travelers and locals. It pushes you into the unexpected, more vulnerable, more risky, more rewarding, more surprising, more spontaneous experiences.

Currently I'm travelling in Spain and I'm not able to offer a place, sorry!

Music, Movies, and Books

Someone described my music taste as 'Dad's music'. I guess there's some truth to it. I love music from that age, 60s to 80s. But I also love bards, disco, Lithuanian hip-hop, indie. I think Milky Chance and Alt-J are my two favourite bands. But if you ask for a favourite song, it would be Song for Zula by Phosphorescent.

Three of my favourite movies are: Life is Beautiful, Amelie and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind.

Book: Cathedral of the sea, by Ildefonso Falcones.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

For one year I lived on a boat in London. Taking your home to a pub instead of going there yourself, singing 'Drunken sailor' to strangers on land, picking up 'hitch-boaters' in Camden, this was all part of the experience.

You can read about me and my boatmate in multiple articles here:

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach play guitar. I can share my passion for jars. And stories about living in unorthodox places. Caves, garages, you name it.

And I love to learn new perspectives. I think it paints the world in different colours.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love sharing the music. It brings people together.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Canada, Egypt, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Poland, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey

Countries I’ve Lived In

Israel, Lithuania, United Kingdom, United States
