About Me
" My Insta📱 : yao.weixin_manu "
I should mention up front: this is my first time using Couchsurfing! I’m trying this platform because I believe the best way to see a new place is through the eyes of a local. I'm hoping to have a fun, memorable experience and meet someone genuine along the way.
I am currently a student studying in France, and my primary mission is to expand my horizons! I'm eager to make friends from all over the world and deeply immerse myself in exploring different cultures. I believe that genuine connections and shared experiences are the best education, and I'm ready to learn from everyone I meet. I'm always keen to learn about different cultures, histories, and perspectives.
As a guest, I am respectful, quiet, and very tidy. I understand that your couch is part of your personal space, and I will always adhere to your house rules. Usually, I will be bringing my own sleeping bag and I am not picky about where I sleep. I’d love to contribute by cooking you an authentic chinese meal and sharing some travel stories or knowledges of languages.
I prioritize experiencing a place like a local rather than rushing through major tourist checkpoints. I love spending time at local markets, musuems, and public parks. For me, Couchsurfing is far more than a place to sleep; it's a platform for genuine cultural exchange. I'm eager to hear your stories, learn about your daily life, and share you with mine.
I am hoping to connect with people who are open-minded, respectful, and sincere. If you believe in building cross-cultural friendships through the simple act of sharing your home, then I think we'll get along wonderfully! Looking forward to crossing paths with you, whether in your city or somewhere else in the world!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm here primarily for genuine cultural exchange and to meet people from diverse backgrounds. I believe Couchsurfing is the best way to experience a city through the eyes of a local, which is far more rewarding than standard tourism. I'm looking for authentic connection, shared stories, and to build cross-cultural friendships, not just free accommodation.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music : My musical tastes are happily borderless! I genuinely enjoy music from all over the world. My playlists are a true mix, frequently jumping between: Mandarin & Cantonese songs e.g. Beyond (Band); English; French chansons (enjoying my time studying in France!); K-Pop and J-Pop; Spanish.
Movies: I mostly enjoy thoughtful documentaries or films that offer a window into different cultures and history.
Books: This is where my imagination takes over! I am a big fan of Science Fiction and Chinese fantasy novels, especially the incredible world-building found in literature. Classics like 'The Three-Body' series are what I love to dive into.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My most memorable experience was two years ago, when I was 19. I decided to take my winter holiday and embark on a month-long solo backpacking trip across Vietnam. It was a journey of incredible landscapes, delicious food, and navigating challenges entirely on my own. That trip truly changed how I see myself and the world, giving me a huge boost in confidence and a deeper love for independent travel.
Teach, Learn, Share
My Life Philosophy :
- Constant Movement: Life is too vast to stay in one spot for our long life
- Optimism: A positive attitude can handle any challenge.
- Flexible Expectations: Low expectations mean every good moment is a wonderful surprise.
- Surprise is Key: Embracing the unexpected makes travel better.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I’m always ready to contribute to our exchange:
Cooking Passion (Chinese Cuisine): I absolutely love to cook and find it incredibly relaxing. I'm excited to share some authentic Chinese meals. I can show you the techniques, introduce the ingredients, or just make a delicious dinner for us to share!
Adventure (Hiking): I have extensive experience as a team leader for hiking and mountaineering groups. I can share fascinating stories and practical knowledge about route planning, wilderness survival tips, first aid in the field, and the logistics of organizing group expeditions.
And I am eager to learn about local daily life and history from you, particularly anything related to your local culture, unique food markets, and uncrowded but amazing spots or some hiking trails.
