About Me
Hi! My name is Maran, I finished my Psychology degree last summer and am now roaming around the world to take some time off from being graded on everything ;)
I discovered Couchsurfing last year and it is now my favourite way to travel. I really appreciate this amazingly kind and generous community, and the way we can learn from eachother and reinvent genuinely connecting with strangers you otherwise never might have met, in this modern age. I'm looking forward to meeting you!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on Couchsurfing because I believe this is the best way to travel: meeting people who actually live in the places you're visiting, in an individual setting. I love getting to hear people's stories and one of the main reasons I love to travel is that I love feeling this human connection when you share kindness with a stranger.
Interests
I really like to be active: dance (I love salsa), hike, climb, swim, or explore a new place. I'm also a big fan of going to museums (I love art and learning) or to events like concerts, jam sessions, jazz bars, you name it.
Besides that I really like to learn new languages, so I would love to hear about yours!
I'm a vegetarian who tries to eat vegan as much as possible.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love independent cinema, reading and going to concerts or festivals!
Some films I love are the Florida Project, Portrait of a Lady on Fire, Sisterhood or Past Lives.
I like books with interweaving stories, especially if they are set in a historical era that you learn more about while reading. Some examples are The House o the Mosque, One Hundred Years of Solitude, Girl Woman Other, Paradise, or anything by Isabel Allende.
Some musicians I like are Mitski, La Femme, Hozier and Bad Bunny... (I love anything in Spanish)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In 2023 i spent 7 months in South-America because I lived and studied in Santiago de Chile. I got to travel to so many amazing places, learn Spanish and meet so many incredible people who have changed my life forever.
This year I spent three months in Guatemala, Belize, Mexico and El Salvador. I was once again so impressed by the nature, the culture and the people I met. I drove around on a motorbike, Couchsurfed, hitchhiked, camped, hiked a lot and improved my Spanish: I'll never forget this experience.
Two other trips I did were half a year in South-East Asia in 2019 and Interrailing around Europe in 2020, which shaped the person I am today.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I will help where I can! I can cook for you, keep your space clean, I'm really grateful to whoever would be willing to share their space with this stranger so I want to give back :) you're also always welcome at my place in The Netherlands!
