I'm a graduate student studying biology with a deep love of the arts and music. My undergraduate was in the tidewater region of Virginia in the US, I moved to the Bay Area in California for work before moving back to the East Coast to start graduate school.

Music is my main activity outside of school. I started off performing mostly jazz, blues, funk and various "brass band" styles, but I was introduced to a whole new genre of folk and "roots" after moving to Cambridge.

I value building connections between people, either through performance, community, collaboration or other shared experiences. I immensely enjoy meeting new people and social situations, though I'm comfortable (and sometimes prefer) quieter interactions as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-I courageously tried to grow a full beard once, but it went terribly.
-Learned how to arrange music for a 18-piece jazz group without ever taking a formal music theory course...it may have helped to actually learn music theory
-Tied my shoelaces with one hand
