ABOUT ME

Ciao! My name is Marcella and I'm a youth project worker living in London since almost 3 years now. I've graduated in Gender, Media and Culture at Goldsmiths University and since then never left :) I love meeting new people, living new experiences...in few words I love to enjoy life. I'm trying to live as everyday is the last one.. of course it is not so easy as it seems but I'm doing my best to don't be bored and don't be boring.
I like people that think with their own minds. I don't like hypocrisy. I love ice-cream, children's laugh and the sun when shines so strong that you can feel it on your skin.

Be honest and love you as much as you can. Yourself is the person with who you will stay forever, never forget.

Interests

I love critical theories, in particular Foucault, J. Butler and Stuart Hall. I think we are living in a post-modern era, and we need more than ever to understand how Power, Norms and Institutions "play"with us and shape our identities. This is one of the reasons why I'm focus on gender identities. We can be categorized as female or male, but at the end we concur to go beyond the categories themselves just living, creating and shaping ourself aware or not of what we are doing.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like different kinds of music, more or less everything but at the moment I'm listening lots of american folk. It depends on the period, I'm eclectic and I prefer to be inspired by my feelings of the moment when I listen to some music.
I'm a huge fan of old italian and french movies. my favorite directors are Fellini and Truffaut. I really enjoy D. Lynch and Kubrick's movies. I find interesting Gus van Sant's directory, and I just can watch forever Miyazaki (all from him).
I love reading, I started when I was 6 and it won't never end. I read mostly novels when I was younger, but I have 4 favorite books: The Master and Margarita; Crime and Punishment; Gender Trouble and History of Sexuality vol. 1 by Foucault.
