Hey fellow couchsurfers!
My name is Marcelo and i'm from a tiny country placed in the most southwestern corner of Europe, called Portugal. I'm a young architect, who recently finished his master in architecture. I was working in an architecture office for almost two years (i started in the beggining of my last year of the master degree) and i just quit my job in Lisbon in order to persuit an old dream of mine of travelling in an adventure mode, as much as i can, until i decide to finally settle in my place (Guess i still have to find my right place) . But while i don't reach that point of life i want to have the best adventure of my life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing seems to be the kind of platforms that goes really into the spirit of travelling and fights against the wrong idea that travelling belongs exclusively to upper class people. For me travelling is more than holidays, learn other cultures and see monuments. Travelling means meet new people, make new friends. Is a life change that completes your innerself and fulfill your soul and spirit. The real travels are the ones that challenge you everyday, every moment and put you in question everytime and make you resilient. Are the ones that put you always in control and teach you how to manage patiently all the problems that you will face day by day.
You even might visited a huge amount of countries and learned a lot of different cultures, but if you visited those countries by staying in hotels and eating in fancy "made for turists" restaurants, you are wrong if you think you are a well travelled person :) Be sponteneous and fearless. The world is not the scary, hostile and cruel place that you face with everyday in the news. Life can be beautiful, and its right there, around the corner 🙂

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - It depends on the state of spirit and mood. I listen a lot of stuff from all over the world. But i can say that it all started back on my 7 or 8 years old, when i started to listen the 90's american grunge.

Books - By writers, like Thoreau, Tolstoy, Jack London, Saramago,etc

Movies - Difficult one. But i have a genuine interest in movies that approach subject matters like mental illnesses and the way that society use or used to handle those issues. Movies like One flew Over cuckos nest, Apocalypse Now, Shutter Island...
