About Me

About me.... okay, i'm gonna make it easier cuz this kind of topic always leads to another topic which also leads to another.

So ... I'm gay, for those who can not handle it, i respect it but sashay away. I prefer to be called as Marc since I speak English more than I speak Chinese, and also my Chinese name is called by my parents when I do something wrong.
Basically, I am open to a load of things, I have no modesty to say I have read a lot and kinda know a lot. I'm kinda sure that I can catch up with whatever topic you wanna talk about.
Since I am a English private tutor, I mostly work in the evening, and the income hasn't been stable and steady yet, so pardon me if sometimes I can not take you around the city (it kind of cost a bit to just "see around")

And about my basic background, I was raised up by a descent mom and dad, sometimes people get this idea that I'm rich, here I am going to tell you that I'm not, sometimes I am even broke, I just know how to act and behave properly. I graduated from the second best college in Taiwan and I majored in German language which I am no longer fluent. I have devoted all my college time to figure skating. Even though I can't do a double jump or a fancy spin, I can still do like single jumps and a lame spin. (It's been a while since I last practiced )

One last thing, I live an extremely western life style, and I even think in English. I wear shoes into my room, I take shower whenever I want. So don't worry about violating any Chinese tradition when you are staying with me.

Oh, I forgot one thing, this is kinda my taboo topic: do not suggest me to apply for flight attendant,
I have tried 14 times and I failed 14 times.

And for those who request to stay with me, please be noted that I do accept most of the requests thats the reason that I won't be hosting literally everyone. And when you are sending your request, please tell me if you snore when you sleep or not. I have sleeping disorder and I can't sleep when someone else is snoring next to me. Please be honest so that we won't have any embarrassing and awkward moment. Just to be safe and to make sure we know each other well and we have read most of the things that we wrote on our profile, please put this word " I do (not) snore" when you send out your request. Thanks

One last thing, this is couch surfing, not Hotel.com, if you are planning on having an amazing night life or free access to my place anytime, that wouldn't be possible. I have a fixed living pattern, I have to work, and I usually go to sleep before midnight. So if you might enjoy the night more, I'm not your choice.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

This is a funny reason I have to say, it all happened in 2015 summer when I was going to Europe for a month just traveling. I was thinking about doing CS, but soon I realized that I do not have any reference and no one, literally no one, was willing to host me. I spent a fortune staying in hotels and hostels. And then I came back, even I know that I am not traveling for a while since money is hard to be saved here in Taiwan, we might have the lowest salary here, so I started to host people from all over the world, for one point is to collect more references but the most important thing is the second point: I live in Taipei by myself, for 8 years already, I could really use some company when the summer nights can be so dark and the winter night could be so cold.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was never a surfer before like I mentioned, but I bet you I could be one of the best host you'll ever meet. The first job I had right after I graduated was being a VIP butler at Sheraton Hotel, and also being a first-born, I know what travelers need and I know how to take care of people.
However, I also do have some preferences of surfer: I don't like stingy people, i'm not saying staying with me you gotta take me to a restaurant or what, but at least you should be able to show a little gratitude. Secondly, I have serious sleeping disorder, I have to take like ten pills just for sleeping, so if you are a snorer, I am sorry ( NOT judging)

Interests

Figure skating, singing, dancing in my own room with all the lights off or going to a bar.
I do not party anymore, I partied way too much when I was in college, I was like the VIP of almost every clubs in Taipei.
And for those surfer who are also gay, my interests include some fun, if you know what I'm saying.
like, who doesn't!?

  • singing
  • movies
  • backpacking
  • surfing
  • languages

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite music is ... a song called Clarity, don't ask me why, I just like it a lot.
My favorite movie is, I know its tote cliche but, Titanic. And the Passenger (Jennifer Lawrance, duh)
Books... I don't read books a lot, I have this mild dyslexia, I only read online where I can zoom in and broaden the space between words.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

During my one-month trip in Europe, the airline lost my luggage in Rome when I was going back to Germany, I stayed in Hamburg for a week without any luggage, and then came back to Taiwan with only a backpack. I survived.
So now, I am able to go everywhere with a backpack only, I will survive everywhere. (well, the money issue is a matter)

Teach, Learn, Share

I think i can teach some basic figure skating skills, ONLY IF you don't even know how to skate, cuz i'm just an amateur. I would like to learn other languages, German preferred. Or should i say, i would like to improve my lame german. (oh god, i am confused with whether to capitalize or not!) And i also love to share with people how taiwanese live their lives. I know it's kind of weird, but i actually do observe taiwanese people as if i am a foreigner.

Updates: sorry I have become a private english tutor now, I don't think I can use extra time to teach anything, but I am willing to share experience and knowledge.

What I Can Share with Hosts

my twin bed, a shower room, some movies downloaded (probably illegally) from a site in China, imagination, a short traveling love affair, a temporary romance and I don't know.

If you want me to share anything with you, mention it in your message, I will think about it.
Also, I don't actually make a lot of money to allow me to hang around with surfers all the time, I kind of live on a budget so be prepared if you might need to explore the city by yourself sometimes.
