About Me

ABOUT ME

Adventurous or as some have said, intrepid! Huge reader and interested in books, ideas, learning, people. Good natured, go with the flow, patient. Introvert, like people but like quiet too!
Hospitable, love to show my world to others. Entertaining, never a dull moment. Have a million ideas and plans to do everything! Like gardening, walking, watercolor painting, drama, music.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that no matter what, there is hope and there is goodness, I believe in God and in grace.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Just finished helping brother (unsuccessfully) to run a small B&B in Austria, have lived and worked in many places, Hong Kong, Iran, Saudi, Germany, Austria, now make life as expat in Ireland and love it. Do church work, work with kids everywhere and anywhere, find new adventures and friends as they pop up, say yes. Just organized a group for a chocoholics tea at a local inn!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Just starting, got idea from Franklin Coleman musician supreme, was at St. Johns Tampa

Interests

Love to be with friends, neighbors, family. Spend time with my two golden retrievers, reading, travelling around my area, preaching, planning my next trip, blogging, am learning to solo as a recent widow, first trip was 3 weeks in Greece people watching! Finding new things to do - from teaching in local school here to learning how to tend bar in Austria.

Music, Movies, and Books

My more techminded daughter just downloaded Netflix on to my Kindle Fire and I am now gorging on a surfeit of British mystery Masterpiece series, Elizabeth George and Inspector Lewis, just visited Oxford, even Dr Who! Am waiting to see Hunger Games, want desperately to see John Carter Mars movies, am Trekkie, one of the few family traditions, one of my favorite books of all time, Gaudy Night, and James Thurber's The Thirteen Clocks, music choral works John Rutter and Cambridge Singers, Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban, also Irish folk, Pete Seeger, and Woodie Guthrie etc. Like Taize chant.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The first time I stood at the gates of Buckingham Palace and lifted my 5 year old son to the gates watching the changing of the guards and singing to myself, They're changing guards at Buckingham Palace..Watching my first grandchild Madeleine being born, being ordained as a priest, eating scrambled eggs with chopsticks in Beijing, swinging hands with Mama Stella down the dusty cow road in Uganda and buying my first goat!

Teach, Learn, Share

Theology, trip planning, want to learn some French and Norwegian this summer, teaching ideas for little kids, know a lot about that!
