About Me
Hi! My name is Marco and I'm from Portugal. I grew up in the suburbs of Lisbon, playing football on the streets in my early teens, which later turned into skateboarding and playing drums, and by the time I was in high school, sports time was spent on a mountain bicycle, riding in the idyllic Sintra alongside friends, or sailing in the bay of Cascais.
To make matters worse, with this stubborn and relentless passion for learning new things, I graduated as an Architect, just to realize at the time that I was officially an expert at knowing little from many different fields. I should have straightened that up when I could! Anyway, we are what we are.
Having had the luck to travel frequently to different places around the globe, and living on 3 different continents, both studying and working, I find myself now wanting to turn a page in my life, after 4 years in Macao, China, working as a full-time architect and part-time DJ.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
First, let's be honest, I need to cut my expenses since I quit my job. So couchsurfing makes sense in that regard. Also, to be able to meet and get to know other people and their takes on life through the experience of Couchsurfing, that's something of value that I'm interested in participating in. I'm a new member, so any advice is always welcome.
At the moment, I'm thinking to travel for some months, mostly to China. I am very curious about the country and I think it deserves many months of exploration. I am just starting this journey.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like adventure fiction books (Clive Cussler being my favorite), History and Architecture, and self-developing books. Musicwise, I listen to pretty much anything that sounds good to me, from Jazz to World music, although I have a weak spot for dance, electronic music (where the DJ part comes from). I am still trying to catch up with my long list of movies to watch, I'm not so strong in that regard, even though it's something I enjoy doing, sitting relaxedly on the couch, having popcorn, and being engaged by a good movie.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Well, I guess the most incredible, but not necessarily the most meaningful was bungee jumping from 230 meters high Macao Tower. I had enjoyed more skydiving a few years before, the whole thing it's just more thrilling and long-lasting. Nevertheless, I was always more scared of bungee, so that was incredible for me, just being able to do it.
As for more meaningful experiences, well, there are many (simply life in and out of itself, things like work, relationships, volunteering, traveling, and so on). All that is incredible and important for growth.
Teach, Learn, Share
Always keen for a good dialogue, where everyone can learn and teach, share knowledge and experience, building a sense of connectedness. I can teach about the things I am interested in and past experiences, the same I guess as most people, and that is also what I am open to hearing from others and learning with.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I would be very glad to share and hear your stories, knowledge, and insight, while I also can help with anything that is necessary for your home, even provide some design ideas, who knows? I can cook some simple meals and, of course, I can DJ with my mobile setup, always ready for a good party!
