About Me

I am a 20 year old Law Student. Ever since I went to the United States as an exchange student in High School I have one passion: to travel. I have been recently accepted to study as an exchange student at the Faculty of Law of the University of Vienna. I am very excited about being able to live there. At home my routine consists of heavy studying . On my free time, however, I enjoy literature and a hammock. I also enjoy a lot to have a good beer by the bay on which I have been born (Santo Antônio de Lisboa). There I can see one of the best sunsets on all of Brazil. I am very interested in philosophy and in history (could say I am a humanities kind of guy). As of right now I want very bad to learn german, and that's why I chose Austria for my college exchange. Generally speaking, I could say my experience living abroad was determining to me, and made me look the world through different eyes. So I am open and respectful to cultural differences. I like football (soccer) a lot and am a heavy coffee drinker. I do enjoy drinking and parties, but I wouldn't say I am a party kind of guy. I enjoy much more a bar in which to drink a good beer while having a good conversation.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I heard about it not long ago and found it can be an amazing way to connect people all over the world. I believe that cultural differences should be respected but somehow overcomed in the interconnection of people and exchange of ideas. I still live with my family and in my house we have had many experiences with exchange students from several countries. They were all great. That's why I want to try the new tool for more informal types of exchanges. One thing that I have never done is travelling on my own, and staying with someone I believe would be a good way of doing it.

Music, Movies, and Books

In my teenage years I would pretty much listen to american rap. Nowadays my music spectrum is much larger. I recently started to enjoy "classical music", for instance. I enjoy Argetinian and Brazilian cinema. One of the best films I have ever watched is "El secredo de sus ojos" (The secret in their eyes). Lately I have been trying to watch movies from several countries that not the USA (Hollywood). For anyone trying to understand Brazil I would recommend "Tropa de Elite" (Elite Troop), both 1 and 2. They are great movies. My favorite kind of literature so far has been american: Fitzgerald and Hemingway. From them I liked the most so far Great Gatsby and The Sun Also Rises and a Farewell to Arms. I am currently readying "This Side of Paradise", and my next book will be "For Whom the Bell tolls". I am a big fan of Gerge Orwell as well (1984 mainly). I liked a lot The Sorrows of Young Werther, from Goethe. He's definitely a genius. And I believe the book that I have read that most impacted me was "Into the Wild", which is not even a fiction book.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I believe going for one year to the USA during High School has been the greatest lifetime adventure I have made. In terms of an unforgettable experience I think about a hike in the "Montanã de Las Colores", in Peru, that went all the way up to 5200m, where lies a rainbow of natural colors. That was definitely incredible.

Teach, Learn, Share

There isn't much that I could teach yet, but I am always willing to have a good conversation on serveral interesting themas, such as philosophy, history, learning languages, etc. That's a way two people learn at the same time. I can also teach a little portuguese for those interested in this beautiful language.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I would be happy to share a beer and chat about our mutual interests, as well as over travel experiences and whatever comes to mind.
