Firstly for some reason my name is spelled incorrectly on here and I can't seem to change it....it's Máiréad.

I'm Irish living in London. I work for an NGO and have a middle east focus so I travel there quite a bit.

I'm not good at writing this personal profiles.... I'm easy-going and sociable and I think would be an easy guest. I'm a little grumpy/slow in the mornings sometimes before my coffee though! :) Or at least my brain is not fully functioning.

I don't like to leave the house without a book and I wish I had more time to make to get to the cinema more often. I box (for fitness) and when I'm in a new city/town/wherever I like to go for a run in the morning to see the streets when they're quiet from that perspective. I'm not fast...just enthusiastic! :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have joined couch surfers because I'm hoping it will be a way to see new places (or old places!) through local eyes, especially as I often travel alone. I am not usually focused on seeing "all the sights" when I visit a place and am more interested in trying local food, sitting in cafes and just soaking the place up. If I can walk or cycle around a new city that is a bonus.
