About Me

I live in Bayreuth, study English and love to meet new people. I spent 9 months in Colombia last year, studying at the University of Popayan and then teaching German and English in Pasto. I really loved how open-minded and content the people are over there, so I want to be more friendly to visitors as well and make Germany a little more warm-hearted. I love animals so I do not eat them, but don't have any problem with people who do and certainly don't make it the topic of the day. I also love to do sports, even though I am terrible at ball games and probably in competitions in general. But in swimming and climbing I am not that bad. I also really like to read literature, that's why I am studying American literature.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think it is a good thing to give and take without money. It makes things a little more fair for people who do not have a lot of money. Also it is the best way to get to know a new place if you stay with somebody.

Khaled Hosseini - A thousand splendid suns

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think the most amazing thing for me was to live in Colombia like the locals, without windows or hot, clean water or any luxury that seems normal to us. Sometimes we went two days without power or water, which made life difficult. Seeing all the students living with these difficulties and still being so happy and motivated to study is amazing. This is definitely something that changed me and I wouldn't want to swap it for any skydive-like experience.
