About Me

Hello everyone =) I'm a 27 year old American who has been living and working in France for the past 4 years. I'm about to embark on a new adventure to join my boyfriend (Franco-Italian) in Chile, and I am working to save as much as I can so that our reunion can be a pleasant and financially stable one :)

I am extremely clean, respectful, and I LOVE to cook (no really) and bake (yes I'll make you delicious cookies and cakes and whatever else your little heart and stomach might desire). I have some dietary restrictions but I'm not one of those militant vegans so please don't worry ^^

I love to sing and I play musical instruments (guitar and ukulele). I spend a lot of time working and the rest of the time studying so I'm a rather calm guest -- just know I might belt out a tune or two in the shower if inspiration strikes me! You can check out my YouTube if you want by searching my full name - Margaret Lolley.

I also have a little Siamese kitten who wants to couch surf with me. She's lovable and friendly and adapts well to new environments. I can also put claw caps on her so that she doesn't pose a risk to your furniture :) Her name is Betty and I'm sure you two will become friends if you let her into your home and your heart <3

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm here because I really need to save as much money as possible before embarking on my next international adventure to Chile. But I will repay your kindness in gourmet, delicious healthy meals and baked goods. I'm also a clean freak so you'll likely get some maid-esque benefits out of my stay ;) ;) ;)

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite music at the moment includes Etta James, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, Aretha,.. the classics.
I also like some electrofunk (like Impératrice) and indie music (like Of Montreal) and electro weird who knows what to call it (like Neon Indian -- who is from Texas too, by the way :) )

Favorite films - again this is IMPOSSIBLE to answer. But the best movie I've seen recently was La Grande Bellezza - I highly recommend it if you haven't seen it already. My boyfriend is a total cinephile and he's slowly but surely converting me too ^^

Books -- again really really too hard to say. But at the top of my list would have to be La Petite Fadette (and anything else by Georges Sand - I absolutely love her), L'arrache Cœur by Boris Vian (so incredible), Kafka's The Trial, anything by Kurt Vonnegut or Camus (the myth of sisyphus changed my life, for real), surrealist/dystopian novels like Brave New World. I'm also into fantasy.
I read a lot as a child what can i say.... :X don't worry, I'm a lot cooler now than i was back then :) :) :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once put out a fire that started in my home. It was pretty terrifying and an entire wall was in flames. Adrenaline took over in the moment and I took care of business !!!!!!

So basically, let me stay on your couch and I'll save your home if there's a fire ! lol

Teach, Learn, Share

I am an English teacher and I also love to inform myself about healthy living, natural remedies, and things of that nature. I'm also super into politics, public policy, and the social sciences (socioeconomy and anthropology in particular). I love to discover new things so I'm sure no matter what your background, conversation will be aplenty-- I love meeting new people, picking their brains, and exchanging perspectives on a variety of issues and phenomena.

I would absolutely love to be in contact with a Spanish speaker so I can work on my Spanish before arriving in Chile :) :) :)

I can also teach you guitar or ukulele and we can jam together if you're into that sort of thing :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am an open-minded, clean, respectful and joyful person. I will cook you some delicious healthy meals and bake you some delicious treats (you won't even know they're vegan I promise)

I love to laugh, live to satiate my curiosity, and am continually in awe of this wonderful, bustling city. I hope that we can meet and share not just a flat but some wonderful times together :)
