About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Avoiding complacency

ABOUT ME

I am a 23-year-old American about to embark on a three to six-month trip in Europe. I love to dance. When I'm not dancing or thinking about dancing, I like to cook, read, and draw, and talk to interesting people. I like working with my hands.

PHILOSOPHY

I like to jump head first into doing things I'm not sure I'm capable of. Usually it turns out to be easier than I thought, but of course sometimes I have to ask for a little help.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have just joined the CS2 Project and am excited to participate. Someday I will have a couch of my own to share.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all kinds of music, but there is a special place in my heart for Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and the Talking Heads. I love to read all kinds of things as well, but lately most of my time has been taken up reading "The Great Books" for school--I'm just finishing War and Peace now, my summer reading assignment.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I performed a spontaneous solo interpretive dance to a weird club mix of "Like a Rolling Stone" at a club in Portugal during an all-night festival surrounded by a large crowd of confused onlookers. I was the only American in the club, was (and am) a huge Bob Dylan fan, and was traveling in Europe alone, "with no direction home/ a complete unknown/ like a rolling stone." I don't think anyone else there could have grasped that particular song's significance for me during my solitary travels, or the strangeness of Bob Dylan being blasted in a Portuguese club, or the joy I feel dancing my heart out. It was one of those rare moments when conditions in the universe seem to align themselves just for a single person.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've spent the last year working as a cook in a nice restaurant and love to cook for and with other people. I'm also something of a Dance Missionary: I love to help people find their Inner Dancer, which resides in each of us.
