My name is Margarida and I'm from Lisbon, Portugal. I also live and study there, and I'm taking History and Literature at University of Lisbon.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love travelling and meeting other people. There are so many great countries and cities to visit, things to see and to learn, and sometimes the best way is staying with people that actually live in the place. It can be very enriching because it makes possible to meet different people and contact with other habits. And finally Couchsurfing is also a cheap way to travel but that allows us to know better the city or the country.

Interests

I love reading and listening to music. My areas of interest are Literature, History and Philosophy, but I would also want to learn more about Physics and Science. One of my bigger passions is cinema, and I love everything, since watching films to discussing them, and I also love taking pictures. I play piano and practice Kung Fu, which make me really happy and keep me busy after classes. I like walking through my city and in my daily life I usually do everything by foot (Lisbon is a beautiful city but it's not very big, and I live in the centre). Of course, I also love hanging out with my friends and travelling, because I can learn a lot and see different things.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like since Vampire Weekend to Velvet Underground, since Manu Chao to Frank Sinatra, to Chico Buarque, David Bowie and The Beatles. My favourite directors are Fellini, Orson Welles, Frank Capra and Michael Powell. I cant tell what's my favourite book, but I love many different genres, such mystery, novel, fantasy and Sci-fi.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Since History is one of my interests, I would like to share the history of my city and country and to learn more about foreign past and culture. Portuguese is my mother tongue, so I can give some quick and simple lessons, and I would also love to learn other languages. I could also share with hosts the daily life in Lisbon and how is to leave in the westernmost country of Europe, with influences since Roman Empire to Muslism, and with such a rich heritage.
