Chi sono
I was born in Japan to a Japanese mother and an American father. I lived there until I was 10 years old, and then my family moved to the United Arab Emirates.
My current home base is in Redlands, California, where I just finished a degree in sociology and anthropology. I love the subject because I grew up exposed to many different cultures and I never want to stop learning about people and cultures all over the world.
I'm frustrated by the rampant consumerism that seems to have taken over society (especially in the US) and all of the advertising that tries to convince you that buying stuff will make you happy. My life goal is to build a 'tiny house' (if you haven't heard of the concept you should look it up :)) and live with minimal possessions in a way that is environmentally and socially responsible. I'd also like to grow my own food as a way to live a frugal and healthy lifestyle connected with nature.
I'm passionate about human rights, equality of all sexes and genders, and activism to bring light to those issues. I can be quite shy/quiet and I don't have the tendency to talk about myself a lot, but if you ask me questions I will have interesting things to say (I like to think so, anyway). I'm a very low-maintenance person; being an only child I'm quite happy doing my own thing but I always welcome good company. I don't eat meat (I do eat fish, eggs and milk products) but other than that I am not a picky eater or a fussy person in general. Growing up in a versatile environment has made me very adaptable :)
Perché sono iscritto su Couchsurfing
Because money is limited (not to mention completely imaginary, but that's a whole separate issue) while human kindness is not.
Interessi
I love art, especially drawing for my own pleasure. Arts and crafts projects keep me going through otherwise stressful times. I also like existential musings and ranting about all that is wrong in this world.

Musica, film e libri
My favorite music mostly falls under the alt rock category, but I enjoy music in all forms (except country - sorry, not sorry). I like movies and books that are funny and/or thought-provoking.
Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto
On the final day of a road trip across the US from MA to CA, I slept in a hammock under the stars at the Grand Canyon AND made it to class the next day.
Insegna, impara, condividi
I know English and Japanese and I like to draw, paint, and craft. I'm more than happy to put these skills into practice in any way that is needed.
I have little experience in gardening, but I would like to learn how to grow my own fruits and vegetables so I can start my own food garden. I'm also very interested in learning how to build houses and other structures so I can put those skills to use when I eventually build a tiny house for myself.
Cosa posso offrire ai padroni di casa
I'm willing to help out in any way that I can :) I love animals so I will definitely take care of your pets! I volunteer at my local animal shelter so I will treat them well.
I can also share the stories and experiences that I have gained over my short lifetime and share my musings about the world. I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty on any projects you might have in the works or even to just clean your house!
