About Me

Hello!

My name is Maria Fernanda. But you can call me Maria or Feña, Mafer, Marifer, etc., but you may call me the way you like. I am a relaxed person, I love good food and good music, simple jokes, learn new things and travel this beautiful planet. I love children, animals, nature. My occupation always leads me to different places, where I know new horizons and good people.
I have lived for 4 and a half years in Europe, first in Germany and now in Austria and it has been one of the best experiences of my life, opened a world of experiences. The countries that I have visited are: My native country Chile, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, Colombia, United States, Germany, Austria and Sweden and I have come to travel a lot, thanks to music. My purpose in life so far is to grow as an instrumentalist and a human being, to be a better interpreter every day and to find through music how to help the people of this world to be happier. When I find the right way, that will be my new purpose.
I work with me every day to be happy, optimistic, confident, generous, enjoying a lot of it to share it with those around me. For this reason, traveling and meeting people helps me a lot in that purpose.
I am currently paired with the person who is my best life teacher, who teaches me a new lesson every day and helps me to keep moving and constantly evolving.
Every day I am more grateful for life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I can be a bit shy sometimes in everyday live and since it is mostly music that takes me around the world, I am grateful for all those opportunities where I can leave my limitations and make way for new cultures, new friendships and new experiences. Couchsurfing has already shown me the great opportunities it offers. We have traveled with my boyfriend and have been great experiences and now Ii's time to open my own profile.
In the future, when I have a spacious and cozy place, I will be really happy to receive people in my house, to meet them and attend them, another great reason.

Music, Movies, and Books

All music in general. I grew up with classical music, popular Latin folk music such as salsa, samba, Andean music and I quickly opened up to pop, jazz, rock. In the last time I have known a lot about Metal, electronics, Hip-Hop. I am not a fan of anything in particular, I am not knower of details and the reason is that I am learning to hear new trends every day, but for now I rather enjoy finding the art that each style has, discovering how these styles were developed and what they mean for composers, interpreters and auditors, especially for auditors. I like to think of the reflection of human needs in music. I enjoy a job well done and with passion, because in terms of interpretation I do have much knowledge. I value the same factors in movies and books. The books I read most? Psychology and self-knowledge are my favourite topics.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think the most incredible thing was once in Brazil. After a month of a festival in which we worked hard to prepare concerts and tours in Brazil, we finished the last day in Sao Paulo, a party after 26 hours without having slept and after a very tiring but unforgettable concert with Beethoven´s 9th Symphony. I was really exhausted and spent my last hours of the festival with my best friend of that last month. After all that I could sleep only 3 hours before a transfer took me to the Airport, where I would have to wait a few hours before the flight. I was 19 years old, incredibly tired and had never taken a flight alone, but I imagined that there should be no problem if I simply did the same thing as the previous times with the orchestras. In a blink of an eye, they left me in front of a car with my things and told me where to go. Totally drowsy I prepared myself to verify that everything was in the car and then with desperation I saw that my violin was not there!! and I left everything to try to reach them, but I could not get it and after trying to find someone who could give me some contact I ended up getting the violin taken to the airport, which relieved me tremendously, but in return I would lose my flight.
I was willing to do it so I waited until I had it with me, but after receiving my violin I did not know what to do, I was alone in an unknown and dangerous city and without experience and without the language (Portuguese, it is similar to Spanish, but depending on the sector it may be unrecognizable!). Then the woman who gave me my instrument offered to return me to the hotel where I had slept and there I would have to solve everything on my own, but at least I would have the opportunity to meet with the companions who had not yet returned home. But then a miracle happened! back to the hotel, a Chilean friend who participated in the festival had a feeling so strong that he asked an organizer to call our transfer and the woman who I returned with the answer, took the great surprise of the latest news! I prepared to wait to know what to do and then I see that the woman became very happy and relieved and announced that I would not be alone. After a couple of minutes talking I found out that the driver of the transfer had decided to take me to the bus terminal quickly, risking a bit of delay for the trips of the following companions so he could take me to my fellow Chilean who was waiting with a couple of bus tickets in his hand in the direction of RIO DE JANEIRO where I unintentionally had lodging for a week and a half in a mansion, with private room, food, with a huge view of the Christ the Redeemer Corcovado from my window (that was very close), a private botanical garden and 6 companions with which we traveled all the beaches of Rio, we tried all the possible Juice flavors and visited each emblematic place. ALL THIS ABSOLUTELY FREE (ok, the juices were not free 😜).
I do not know if this was a prize for risking everything, but without a doubt for whatever reason, it was one of the best experiences of my life.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My humble company and personality, my willingness to share, help, learn, tell stories, enjoy the moment. My silence if necessary haha, just kidding, although it would be a problem, though I love to share. My music if you please, my knowledge and as I will probably be traveling for professional reasons, I may be able to offer you concert tickets! Does it Sound good?
