About Me

Quite active: physically, spiritually, socially (not in a digital way). I am very pragmatic. But, by the grace of the highest, and greatest noble force, I can pursue lofty ideals beyond my imagination and capability.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Not really sure. When the travel bug hit, it seems like a natural fit. I typically visit places because of people: friends and family. I’d gladly spend time and resources in the company of treasured people. To spend a significant chunk of the budget on impersonal accommodations does not offer much in terms of return on investment.

Interests

Nature, music, arts, sports, dance, activities, movement: anything that feeds the soul.

Music, Movies, and Books

All music is good, but I seem to be partial to Jazz. Movies are the same: any genre has its merits. But those that stir the mind, spirit and emotion - do hit the sweet spot. Classics like: Cinema Paradiso, Amadeus, Shawshank Redemption, Lord of the Rings trilogy, Departures, or Shall we Dance (Japanese) are great. But cult classics like the Princess Bride are just as satisfying.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

None. Can’t claim anything that’s truly mine.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach some sports and activities (e.g. tennis, volleyball, dance). Would love to quickly learn French and Spanish. With wisdom that comes from 25 years or so of experience, lessons learned from being a “stranger in a strange land” are things I can share. I was an international student in the United States, and have since the ‘90’s - gained a broad perspective living as the “resident alien”.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Travel and living tips in the USA; at the same time, I offer a unique perspective – one that blends Asian and third-world view points.
