About Me

Hello!
I'm Maria, or MJ, I'm from Romania but I am currently in my last year of studying in Israel at an international school. I am addicted to travelling, adventure and thrills, good food, music and movies. I like to think I'm really open-minded and talkative, nice flowing conversations are the best thing in life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am here because I think it is one of the best ways to experience the culture and the place you are travelling to, rather than staying in cold hotels. I like people and experience and sharing, so couchsurfing is the best thing to try!

Interests

I am interested in music, visiting and exploring places (especially the least known ones), history, especially Middle Eastern history as I do not know enough and I can never know enough, learning new things from the weirdest subjects, languages, magic and tricks, life.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: everything. literally everything. I will listen to anything, from death metal to classical to the most mainstream pop music if it appeals to me. I love to listen to music in different languages and from different cultures.

Movies: psychological and thrillers are my favourite: The Prestige, The Illusionist, Inception, Fight Club, Se7en, The Butterfly Effect and more. I also appreciate good horrors and good comedies.

Books: Among my favourites are Narcissus and Goldmund by Hesse, The Portrait of Dorian Gray by Wilde, The Counterfeiters by Gide, everything by John Steinbeck, pretty much everything by Dostoyevsky, mostly everything by Dan Brown.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Skiing in -20 degrees Celsius in shorts and a tanktop and the cold that followed, cured by amazing hot chocolate with whiskey. One of the best memories ever.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach a bit of history and my language,
I want to learn everything, so everything is welcome!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I don't know much, so all I can share is an open heart and an open mind, as well as the knowledge of a few card games and my very limited knowledge of languages.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bulgaria, France, Hungary, Moldova, Turkey

Countries I’ve Lived In

Israel, Italy, Romania
