Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To grasp at the meaning of poems. Oh, yeah, and to travel, and stuff.
ABOUT ME
I'm 24 and enjoy writing, reading, oldish movies, and memorizing poems. I love travelling and try to get out of the country at least once a year. It helps me ground myself.
PHILOSOPHY
Meaning is found in those serendipitous moments that could just as easily not have happened. Chance encounters and shared smiles make my day. People ought to exercise their minds as often as possible and constantly push the limits of their comfort zones in order to improve the quality of their life. I believe in passions and dreams, and while I'm not always brave enough to follow through with great ideas that I have, I believe that consistent pressure and a refusal to take dismissal as a viable option are the keys to gaining anything you want in life.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I meet people at the mixers and try to make Denver seem more welcoming.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I stayed with a host during an epic Eurotrip in the Spring of 2011, and have been to a few mixers. Once I have a more advantageous living situation, I would probably host.
Interests
Most books, silent film, unconventional fashion, Humanism, yoga, writing, hiking, philosophy, astrology, constructing meaning, rediscovering strange talents, learning a bare minimum of the language in countries I visit, laughing as much as possible, and living life as fully as I can.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like most silent films because they force you to concentrate on them. In music, I have very eclectic taste. I like classic rock, some modern Russian stuff, and most things unconventional.
I'll read almost anything. One author I object to whole-heartedly is Ayn Rand. If you want to know why, we can have a conversation about it, but unlike many of my opinions, this one is pretty much set in stone.
While an exhaustive list of all the books I love would probably take up pages, I'll settle for the Five Books I Would Want With Me On A Desert Island I Have No Hope Of Escape From.
1. The Little Prince. If you've ever read this, it should be self-explanatory.
2. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. The reason this list is only five books is, essentially, because I would take all the Harry Potter books with me if I had the space.
3. Leaves of Grass. When I was introduced to Whitman, I was introduced to my soul.
4. The Unbearable Lightness of Being. I love Kundera's prose, and this novel grabs my attention and makes me reconsider my world whenever I pick up the book.
5. The Doors of Perception. The argument Huxley makes here can be extended to any sort of activity that causes you to reconsider your place in the world and the function of the world and the subjective mind.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
It's difficult to judge a life retrospectively and pinpoint one amazing thing I've done. I vividly remember jaywalking across a busy intersection at Elephant and Castle in London recently, getting lost in Israel on the way back to the airport, stopping traffic and biking through Tel Aviv, and going through Germany in one day.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm good at explaining things I understand. Things I understand (at least a little) include, but aren't limited to: some types of poetry, Symbolic Logic, Astrological personality types, Russian and English idioms, nail painting, cartoons, knitting, public speaking, crappy guitar playing, and inspiration.
I'd love to learn to crochet, stand up in front of a crowd and say something that comes directly from my soul, learn to say anything in Danish, and how to do a cartwheel.
