ABOUT ME

I was born in Northern Wisconsin, and have lived in Ann Arbor on and off for the past 20 years. My passions include making beautiful practical clothing, traveling, cooking, meeting, working and playing with people of all ages and backgrounds, singing and listening to music, experiencing the specific ecology of new and old places, and sharing stories.
I quit going to school after 9th grade, and have been a full time student in the not school of real living since.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I haven't been very active here yet, but I'd love to start meeting folks and showing the cool things I know about the city I'm in to them, and learning about what they have found. My living space currently is quite small, and doesn't not afford much privacy, so I can only host on a very limited basis, I am, however very happy to meet for coffee/drink, and perhaps invite folks over for dinner.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

While I was traveling in the UK and Europe I did quite a bit of couch surfing, albeit not through this official channel, I met John while I was traveling on the West coast, and he introduced me to this site, as of yet I haven't hosted or been hosted by anyone through this site, though I have stayed with John several times, he is a splendid ambassador for couchsurfing.com!

Interessi

Sewing, costume making, food-eating preparing, growing etc. Traveling solo and with companions, learning every day, making things in general, I like things to be practical as well as pleasing; making new friends, keeping in touch with old ones, singing, dancing, reading , making chai and drinking it. I'd like to try traveling around the US with my sewing machine again, but this time with a car.

Musica, film e libri

Movies: Gadjo Dilo (The Crazy Stranger) any thing else by Tony Gatliff, "The Hedgehog in the Fog" its a short animated movie, check it out on You Tube! hmmm I'm drawing a blank now. I like movies that really make me laugh, and think, sometimes cry. I don't like horror movies.
Music: I like folk music, both in the modern, and the folklore sense. I like live music best. Greg Brown is a favorite, Emmyllou Harris, Isobel Campbell, Bob Dylan, Fabrizio D'Andre, so many more...
books: I like 'em, novels, how to books, non fiction, biography and especially fairy tales/folk tales from all over the place

I have been designing and constructing clothing and costumes for the past 13 years, I have some to teach and much to learn.
I have studied mime theater for quite a while and can share knowledge about that.
I can make some great south Indian food, and really wonderful chai, and am always happy to share!
I am interested in learning about everything from sailing to farming to shoe making to music theory, to algebra, I'm rusty on that right now.
