About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'm setting out on a journey, seeking home, aligning with what has been called Spirit, The Force, The Flow , The Vortex and many other names. I am craving the mysterious and inviting it to unfold in my life.

ABOUT ME

Well...friends say I'm funny, multi-talented & sensitive. I have "strong non-verbals" and am sometimes an "Emotional Pry-bar"! (those last 2 are direct quotes!). Spiritual, mature, open minded. My friends have said all these things. About myself I can say I'm a direct communicator. You won't wonder how I'm feeling! I'm also interested in deep conversation... I don't hang out much "on the surface". I'm not a big 'party' person but I like gatherings. I like to laugh. I have a small business making burial and cremation shrouds (ceremonial wrappings for the body of someone who has died). And I educate and encourage people toward Home Funerals and Natural Burials. I offer counsel, spiritual direction and ceremony for people in all kinds of transitions. I write-about this and other things. I dream of community but find myself traveling more than I thought I would. Am about to set off on another journey, scouting out possible new homes.

PHILOSOPHY

I work with this phrase; "It's a Gift" when something arises that I find challenging. I like to wring every bit of usefulness from my experiences. I also like to smile at people! It surprises many of them- and often a good chat or at least a friendly feeling in the heart is the result. But some people don't smile back, which is equally instructive ~~and a great opportunity to not take it personally when they don't!

Interests

I like to sing and find improvisational singing in a group to be a really fun way to break the ice. I like dancing (ecstatic dance is a great weekly practice). I'm an artist and work in many media ,currently including painting and textiles. I like music, am studying harp at present. I like good food and am a decent cook. I like sharing good conversation over great meals. Deep inquiry interests me. I meditate daily (40 yrs and counting). Spiritual paths and practices interest me. Other cultures interest me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I gave birth at home---and watched my daughter being born- in the mirror! That was pretty awe-inspiring!
I've sat in the woods long enough for the "hush" created by my noisy passage to subside-- and the natural voice of the forest could be heard once again. My vision 'shifted' and suddenly I could perceive things at a different and more 'intimate' level. This happens now with some regularity, and it's still awe inspiring when it does.
Once, in Florida, I sat fairly close to the bank of a fairly wide river watching large 'logs' floating down stream. The river was stained dark like tea- from the tannin in the trees on the bank. I was near an eddy, and there was a branch in front of me with two bumps protruding below it at one point. I sat still, taking it all in for at least 20 minutes. (that's often how long it takes for the perspective to shift). Gradually I began to realize that the aforementioned "large logs" were actually Alligators (!)....and then it further dawned on me that the 'bumps' protruding out of the water just in front of me were eyes! Alligator eyes. I realized I couldn't outrun this animal if it decided to come for me (they can run 60 mph for short distances!). So I just very respectfully and gradually moved away...bit by bit... and got myself to a safer spot. Whew!

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach/Share; Information and help with grief, death, loss...and green funeral practices.
art! sewing, cooking, co-counseling....
to learn: I'd like help with Italian and French languages. I'd like to learn to knit better than I do. I'd like to learn more about music theory, and harp in particular.
