About Me

Talk about TV, movies, books, comics: I geek out. I might start off as shy, but once we break the ice, I'm a pretty easy going person. I love talking to people about what they're passionate about, more so when it's something we have in common. Still, learning new things and different points of view is something that I'm always trying to do, so I'm game for almost anything.

An optimist by choice, I'd much rather make someone smile than bring them down. Sometimes it's harder, but if my day isn't going that well, that doesn't mean I can't make someone else's better.

I am a recent fan of spontaneity and random "happenstances". Let's live a little.

Fun fact: I am easy to bribe with food.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Every day technology finds a way to open our minds and help us grow. Why not use it? Meeting new people, be it abroad or in my own city, is a way to learn new things about the world, people and myself.

Interests

I love me some good storytelling. Television, movies, theatre, podcasts, books, comics, YouTube, the web... I love them all! I find both the making of each of these formats, as well as the end result, fascinating. There are so many moving parts that have to fit together to make a story work.

I'm still trying to figure out what makes mine work, which brings me to my other top interest: my friends. Without them I would not be who I am. Some stay, some leave, but all of them matter in one way or another. Friendship is not something I take for granted.

Music, Movies, and Books

Ah, almost like choosing a favorite child (or is it?). The first ones that come to mind in each category are:

Music: Florence + the Machine, Chvrches, Haim, The Naked and the Famous, Odesza, Broadway musicals, soundtracks (Battlestar Galactica!). Oh, Giorgio Moroder suddenly appeared in my life.

Movies: Inglorious Basterds, Drive, Whiplash, Coherence, Pride and Prejudice, Scott Pilgrim vs The World, Shaun of the Dead, The Road, Safety Not Guaranteed, Pitch Perfect (FIGHT ME) and of course, Disney's Mulan.

Books: Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro, The Beacon of Alexandria by Gillian Bradshaw, Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire, the Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling, A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket, A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin, Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky.

TV Shows: Battlestar Galactica, Fringe, Game of Thrones, 30 Rock, Parks and Rec, Brooklyn 99, Community, Happy Endings, Orange is the New Black, Hannibal, Orphan Black, How I Met Your Mother...

Comics: Image, Dark Horse, Boom Studios, DC, Marvel. Let us read and enjoy our comics in peace.

I guess a lot of things came to mind, huh.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I find it amazing when things are in sync, no matter how small.

Once, after a particularly fun evening with friends, I danced and sang my way home to Queen's Don't Stop Me Now under the rain at midnight, with the light posts illuminating the raindrops as they fell.

Teach, Learn, Share

Personal experience, terrible jokes and random facts.

What I Can Share with Hosts

More terrible jokes and hopefully good experiences! One does not exclude the other.
