ABOUT ME

My name is Marian, I love cats, colours, chocolate, photography, airports, sunshine, laughing, modern technology and geek jokes.
In my studies I am surrounded by guys as you can imagine, so my humour and wit fit well in geeky conversations.
Got rid of my tv long time ago but love american drama series like house md, dexter, the good wife and so on. My two cats are staying with my mum, I miss them every day.
Next to my courses I am trying to improve the studying situation for the students in my department of informatics, therefore got elected to be a student speaker. Also I am part of several committees that are involved in problems about the entire university.

PHILOSOPHY

I don't have a philosophy I live for or after. Some things I am trying to do: finish my studies, stay in contact with friends, see my Tigger as often as I can, doing something good for myself every day.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I would love to show people around Heilbronn or Heidelberg. Unfortunately I don't have a couch, my student place is too small for that, but I can offer enough space for a sleeping bag and a good breakfast.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I don't have any experience, want to try it for the first time. I want to meet new people and enjoy their company when discovering new places.

Interests

I like to take pictures with my new dslr :-), watch movies, dance ballet, stumbling the internet, have cocktails with friends and recently discovered knitting. My first scarf is already done!

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies I love are Once, Juno, The Reader, Before Sunrise, Center Stage, but there are many more. Recently I liked The King's Speech and Poll.
All time favourites in music are Norah Jones, Emiliana Torrini and various soundtracks. Newly came to my attention the lovely Adele, the lil' dirty Kate Nash and the french singer Zaz.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Amazing things I have done:
After finishing secondary school everyone told me I shouldn't study Informatics because I had had bad grades in math. And guess what, I'm one year away from finishing my Bachelors!
When I was 6 I wanted to join the ballet course of my cousin. The teacher looked at me and said I was too big and too old. And guess what, I started a ballet course when I was 23, fullfilling my childhood dream.

Amazing places I have seen: Paris, Vienna, Berlin, Prague and Heidelberg.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach German, stuff about computers, acting, cooking and ballet. Since my AuPair stay in Maryland I have been able to learn a lot about the US and about the differences to Germany and Europe.
I would love to meet people who can teach me sth about their lives in their city, what is special, what's the community like, how do cultures live together.
