About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Enjoy traveling the world and meet interesting people (and in the meantime decide in what part of the world to set up home when done traveling)

ABOUT ME

Where to begin? Maybe with an introduction. I, Marian and my partner, Maarten left the Netherlands about 5 years ago to work and life in Mexico City for a while. Though we had a brilliant time in Mexico, after a year and a bit we jumped on the opportunity to move to one of the best places in the world to life in: Vancouver. Here we spent 3 years working, traveling and playing outside (skiing, hiking, camping and playing all sorts of sports), basically enjoying life to its max. We always wanted to take some time off to make a trip around the world, so last September we quit our jobs, said goodbye to our friends in Vancouver, paid a quick visit to our family and friends in the Netherlands and took off again to start a 8 months period of traveling through Asia (Japan, China, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Australia, New Zealand, Cook Islands) and South America (Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia). We just finished the Asia leg and arrived in Chile. We are very much looking forward to practice our Spanish, get to dance some Salsa, try to get our taste buds used to spicy foods again and maybe learn to dance a bit of Argentinean Tango.Interested in our travel pictures and travel stories: http://www.travelblog.org/bloggers/maarten)

A couple of people recommended us to sign onto this site as it would allow us to stay with locals which sounds quite refreshing after spending most of the time in hostels, where you get to meet great people but hardly any locals. Also we look forward to hosting people from all sorts of nationalities in the country where we will be making home, which is a little undecided yet. Other than that I can add that we are easy going, non-demanding people, who enjoy traveling (obviously) and interacting with people from various backgrounds. Not only to learn about other views on life, but also just because we like to be amongst people. We do occasionally drink a glass of beer or wine, but nothing excessively and smoking we gave up long time ago.
