About Me

CURRENT MISSION

PEACE ON EARTH! :D - No, Seriously my mission is to travel, to meet lots of new people and basically to find out, what I want to do with my life!

ABOUT ME

Hi! My name is Marianne and I am 20 years old.
I live in the tiny country of Denmark (population less than six millions) in the second biggest city called Aarhus. Here, I still live at my parents house with my mom, dad and two cats. I also have an older sister who moved out last year.
As amazing as Aarhus is, I love to travel (although it has mostly been in Europe to this point) and it is the dream, that I one day will get to live and work all across the planet.
In the summer I will be travelling across the US with friends for two months, which will be my biggest adventure so far!
Please leave comments, if there is anything you would like to know.

Finally I would just like to apologize for the endless grammatical errors and state that my English teachers were never very good at that part!

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy is to do the things that i really want to do, and see the places that I really want to see while I can. My biggest fear is waking up someday with nothing but regrets.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At the moment I cannot offer my couch. But who knows? Maybe I will get a big enough place, once I get my very own couch.
Currently I wish to either surf some couches on travels or meet up with locals.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far: NONE.
My sister has tried it, my cousin has tried it and a few of my friends have tried it, and they all have gotten amazing experiences out of it!

Interests

I am pretty creative, and I like to draw, sing and write alike. I have a beautiful Epiphone guitar, which I'm sure I will learn to play eventually (fingers crossed).
I am generally very interested in music and live for going to concerts. I also like to read (novels as well as comic books) and I take interest in movies.
For fifteen months (sept. 2011 - nov. 2012) I spend a lot of my free time volunteering at a Café in central Aarhus where I was working with people who had a variety of mental issues.
It has never been necessary for me to get that involved in sports because I like to walk from place to place, but when I was a kid, I practiced gymnastics for a while as well as swimming. Every year I go skiing with my family for at least a week.
I am very fond of all kinds of animals and have cats, rabbits and guinea pigs.

Music, Movies, and Books

Wow, that list could easily get reaaally long!
Hmmm... let's see...
My favourite performers at the moment might be The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, Muse, My Chemical Romance, Florence + The Machine, All Time Low, Two Door Cinema Club and Gotye - although that list is ever changing. Generally I would say, I like pretty much all kinds of music except classical.
My favourite movies include Fight Club, Lars and the Real Girl, Silver Linings Playbook, The Matrix, Scott Pilgrim vs. The world, Quarantine, Moulin Rouge, Pulp Fiction, Sinister, The Hunger Games, Drive, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Place Beyond the Pines and above them all: Star Wars!
The last book I finished was Submarine by Joe Dunthorne but other than that, I have to admit, I am a sucker for the Harry Potter books as well as the Hunger Games books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I would probably say going to the Oxegen Festival in 2011 in Ireland.
It was the first festival I have ever attended, and it started out with me and friend almost missing our flight and upon arrival being told that about our camp that: "people get killed in red camp" - always good to know. After that followed five days of cold, horrible weather (the ground always consisting of mud or "pee dust" everywhere), bad food, looking like crap, sounding like crap, having people breaking into our tent three times and by the end of it being too tired to stand up.
Still I would never hesitate to do it again and during all of the festival I had the amazing feeling, that there was nowhere in the world, I would rather be. Also the line up was pretty sweet!

Teach, Learn, Share

wow, OK, I'm still pretty new to this, so I'm just going to leave this spot open for now...
